The hosts suffered an early blow in the match.

NorthEast United FC scripted history after securing their first-ever away win against Mumbai City FC since 2019 with a 3-0 rampage in the final Indian Super League (ISL) game of 2024. The Highlanders came out all guns blazing and became only the second side to take all three points from the Mumbai Football Arena this season. Juan Pedro Benali’s men were all over the Islanders and did not give them a single chance to breathe.

The Highlanders’ starman Alaeddine Ajaraie opened the scoring with just 45 seconds on the clock and put his side 0-1 up. He had the chance to make it 0-2 for his side, but Rehenesh TP came out on top and stopped his penalty. However, he did eventually make it 0-2 in the second half and became the record all-time goalscorer for the Highlanders. Macarton Louis Nickson scored the third goal and wrapped up a sweet victory for his side.
