Mohun Bagan edge past East Bengal in an easy encounter.

This week’s Indian Super League (ISL) Saturday double header produced two entertaining games. In the first game, Mohammedan SC shocked everyone and snatched three points from Bengaluru FC at the Kanteerava Stadium. It was Bengaluru’s first home defeat of the season and their second consecutive defeat since the turn of the year. Mirjalol Kasimov came back from suspension and scored an 88th-minute winner to lift the Black Panthers off the bottom spot.

In the second match, Mohun Bagan completed yet another league double over East Bengal and secured the bragging rights after an intriguing Kolkata Derby in Guwahati. Following tonight’s result, East Bengal’s wait for an ISL win over their arch-rivals continues. Jamie Maclaren’s strike in the 2nd minute remained as the point of difference between the two sides as the Red and Gold brigade failed to make their mark in the big game.

A brief look at the points table

Bengaluru FC continue in the second position with 27 points despite facing defeat tonight. FC Goa remain at the third spot with 25 points.
