TG Purushothaman opens on Kerala Blasters producing Talent and their fighting sirit in ISL 2025

Kerala Blasters sit at the eighth spot in the ISL table.
A hard-fought ISL encounter at the Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium ended in a stalemate as TG Purushothaman’s Kerala Blasters FC and NorthEast United FC played out a 1-1 draw. Though the two teams were gunning for a playoff-defining victory, they went home with a point apiece. The point was a good away point for NorthEast, while KBFC showed character to hold on despite being down to ten men.
It has been a rollercoaster ride so far this season for KBFC, who, after an bad start to the season, finally seem to have found an even keel. They have lost just once in the last five matches. Despite being thrown out of their strides on most such occasions, they have always managed to battle it out.
However, there has been the emergence of young talent in the name of Korou Singh, who has grown into a gem for the Blasters. With 4 assists in just 10 appearances, today Korou showed his versatility when he stepped into the right-back role in the absence of the red card shown to Aibanbha Dohling. He came up with a calm, confident, and assured performance in defence that typified the tradition of the club in bringing on board young talent.
A Legacy of Producing Stars
Kerala Blasters have long been a breeding ground for young footballers who shine on the national and international stage. Players like Sandesh Jhingan, the Emerging Player in their debut season, and recent talents such as Mohammed Aimen, Mohammed Azar, Vibin Mohanan, and Nihal Sudeesh highlight the club’s commitment to youth development.
Kudos to Tomasz Tchorz and TG Purushothaman, who played a crucial role in scouting and mentoring players to create a system that allows the young talents to blossom. Speaking post-match, Purushothaman said, “Brilliant performance from the team, Korou and most of the young players were on target.
“Korou did a fantastic job coming up with the right back. He was absolutely outstanding. That’s how these young players come into the arena. KBFC is producing players for the ISL and the national team. More players have to come up. Obviously, the results will follow. We are waiting for that.”
20 Points: An Incentive to Work Hard
Despite the mid-season struggles, the KBFC managed to get 20 points in their bag so far in the season to keep their hopes alive for making it to the playoffs. Purushottaman acknowledged the efforts of his players:
“Coming up from a difficult situation and making the team as a team, along with all the players. Their efforts are remarkable. They are giving everything on the ground to play for the badge, play for the club, and play for the pride. All the credit goes to the players. If anything negative happens, it’s our fault, but all the credit goes to the players.”
The draw against NorthEast was one of the finest defensive performances KBFC have had this season. A man down for over an hour, the team fought their heart out with discipline to keep the opposition at bay. Everyone contributed to keeping the opposition at bay – from the striker Kwame Peprah to the backline.
The Way Ahead
For the fans, though, the draw may not have come as a result they would have liked, but it certainly did reiterate the fighting spirit of the team. The KBFC fights for a playoff spot with their focus still on consistency and unity. The team is slowly finding its form, with players like Korou Singh and new additional signings with team unity, and is all set to make a strong statement this season.
