Indian Super League (ISL) club Kerala Blasters FC head coach TG Purushothaman galvanized his squad ahead of a high-stakes encounter against league leaders Mohun Bagan Super Giant. The Blaster’s head coach alongside captain Adrián Luna addressed the media during the pre-match press conference.
With seven points separating the Tuskers from the coveted top-six spots, the encounter against the Mariners is a make-or-break game for their 2024-2025 campaign. While sharing insights into their preparations, challenges, and expectations, the pair candidly talked to the media.
Kerala Blasters FC are prepared for a tough battle
Coach Purushothaman emphasized that his side will be approaching the match with a step-by-step strategy, analyzing their opponent’s strengths and weaknesses. While he understands the difficult task that lies ahead, he insists that every match is treated with equal importance.
While talking about their upcoming opponents, he stated, “It doesn’t matter if it’s a big team or a small team—what matters is getting the three points.” With only five matches left in the season, Kerala Blasters are in a crucial phase of their season where every point will count towards their goal of qualifying for the ISL playoffs.
Adrian Luna wants to make the home advantage count
While highlighting the significance of the game, the Blasters captain was keen to make the home advantage count for his side. He stated, “We don’t need more motivation than playing against the first team in the table. We need to collect as many points as we can, especially at home.”
While reflecting on a week analyzing their upcoming opponents, Luna shared that his side are ready for the challenge of facing the league leaders. With three crucial points hanging in balance, the Manjappada will hope their captain plays a crucial role on Saturday.
Blasters will be missing Noah Sadaoui
The Tuskers will be without their in-form striker Noah Sadaoui, who is sidelined for two weeks due to an injury. While addressing this setback, Purushothaman reassured that his team remains united and ready to overcome this latest obstacle as a team.
He stated, “Each and every player in our team supports each other during these times. We will use it in a good way and try to overcome all challenges.” Apart from Sadaoui’s injury, Purushothaman will have all other players available, pending final medical assessments.
Blasters are eyeing those top-six spots
With nearly two weeks of preparation time for this fixture, Luna assured that the squad has had an excellent training period ahead of the big game. While talking about the preparations, he stated, “We have studied them, we know how to hurt them, and we are ready for the challenge.”
The captain also had a special message for the passionate Kerala Blasters fans before the Mohun Bagan encounter. He appealed, “Come to the stadium, we need you. We always give our best on the pitch, and your support makes a huge difference.”
With high stakes and a tough opponent ahead, Kerala Blasters are set to give their all in what promises to be an intense matchup against Mohun Bagan.
