Kerala Blasters are set for a high-stakes showdown against Jamshedpur.
TG Purushothaman’s Kerala Blasters FC are heading into the business end of the Indian Super League (ISL) 2024-25 season as they face Jamshedpur FC in match week 24. With only three games remaining, coach TG Purushothaman’s side will need to win all their games to keep their slim playoff hopes alive.
As the Tuskers prepared to face the Red Miners in their upcoming fixture, interim coach TG Purushothaman reflected on his team’s chances this season.
Kerala Blasters FC will tackle defensive struggles
The Blasters have conceded five goals in their last two league fixtures. With the difference between the teams coming down to goal differences for some sides, the Blasters have currently got a -5 goal difference.
However, TG Purushothaman, staying true to his belief in teamwork, stated, “All challenges must be overcome through teamwork. We work together as a team, playing collectively in defence, attack, and transitions. Our focus is on that, and we will utilise all our resources to overcome any challenges Jamshedpur presents.”

What will be Kerala’s approach after back-to-back defeats?
As the club continues to carry the weight of suffering consecutive league defeats, TG Purushothaman shared his big takeaways from the recent losses. He stated, “It’s a fact that the last two matches resulted in negative outcomes. There’s nothing to hide. We take full responsibility for that, not the players. We own all the negative aspects and are looking at ways to overcome them.”
While talking about the loss against Mohun Bagan Super Giant, he stated, “In the game against Mohun Bagan, we struggled to convert the chances we created. In the last game against Goa, we failed to capitalise on certain moments, particularly in the first minute of the first half, all of which needs to be rectified.”
The Blasters interim coach also highlighted the challenges with mentality when faced with difficult situations. He stated, “We need to overcome them to succeed in every match. Our focus remains on maintaining our good style of play, creating more chances, scoring more goals, and ultimately winning matches.”
Noah Sadaoui’s availability will be decisive
TG Purushothaman also candidly spoke on Noah Sadaoui’s chances to get back on the pitch. He stated, “He is in rehab, and we need to wait for the medical report after today’s sessions. After that, we will review the reports and make a final decision accordingly.”
Any positive news of Noah’s availability will be a huge injury boost for the Manjappada. In 17 appearances this season, the Moroccan has recorded seven goals and five assists while anchoring the attacking burden for his side.
Awaiting a Tough Challenge
The Blasters’ upcoming opponent in Jamshedpur FC, is a team who are sitting pretty in the top-four spots. Having already secured a playoff spot, the Blasters head coach shared his thoughts on the challenges of facing Khalid Jamil.
While commenting on his expectations from his upcoming opponents for an easy game, he stated, “No, never. I know Khalid Jamil and the kind of side Jamshedpur is. They always bring a fight. We expect a tough challenge, and we are prepared for it. Hopefully, we will achieve our goal.”
