Three Mohun Bagan Super Giant players to look out for in the ISL 2024-25 playoffs

Mohun Bagan Super Giant will face Jamshedpur FC in ISL 2024-25 semifinals.
Indian Super League (ISL) club Mohun Bagan Super Giant sailed their way towards the 2024-25 Shield championship, winning it in dominant fashion. The Mariners broke a number of records en route to comfortably finishing over second-place FC Goa to make it back-to-back league shield championships.
However, the season is not at all over for the Kolkata giants. The Green & Maroon Brigade still have the ISL title to capture. As of now, Mumbai City are the only team in the ISL history to have won both the league shield and ISL playoffs title double in the same season (2020-21 season).
The Mariners aim to join that elusive category by pushing to win the title and cap off a totally dominant fashion. However, Mohun Bagan will need to produce some clinical performances and be at their best to fend off opposition to win the title.
All their players need to maintain utmost concentration, but there are some particularly in-form players who can help elevate their chances. Here we look at the Mohun Bagan players who could be difference makers in the 2024-25 ISL playoffs.
3. Jason Cummings

Jason Cummings has been like Jose Molina’s special weapon in the Mohun Bagan attack in the 2024-25 season. The Australian forward has been an admirable team player, not fussing about being benched in key games or having to play in different positions.
In fact, Cummings has actually excelled in playing behind the no.9, being able to showcase his creative potential and run the games for Mohun Bagan. Cummings has 10 goal contributions (four goals, six assists) in 22 ISL games this season, but needs to bring his best for the playoffs. He could be a major problem for the opposition sides in the one-off knockout matches because of his ability to pull off something special out of nothing.
Cummings will look to be a tormenting factor with his clever movement in the empty spaces in the opposition half and be unpredictable with his final delivery. He’ll need to nail the final passes and shots on goals to amplify Mohun Bagan’s goal-scoring prowess. Even if Cummings plays as an impact substitute, he can really have a major say in the Mariners’ results in the playoffs and play a part in guiding them to the title.
2. Manvir Singh

Manvir Singh is one of the Mohun Bagan players to really benefit from the implementation of Jose Molina’s system. The India international has enjoyed a prolific 2024-25 campaign with the Mariners, being a mainstay on their right-wing role. Manvir scored five goals and provided four assists in the league phase, being one of the most prolific Indian players in the ISL. It’s now time for him to prove that he can do it in the playoffs as well.
Manvir has only scored two goals in 17 ISL playoffs matches in his career, a record he’d desperately want to improve this time around. Fortunately for Manvir, the current system allows him to be more expressive with his style and also make better runs into the key areas in the opposition half. He’ll aim to use his impressive speed to be a tormenting factor for defenders, getting into the danger areas to set up big chances for his teammates.
However, Manvir will also look to amplify his goal-scoring chances by sneaking into better positions in the box and if he can get into his rhythm, then Manvir can really fire up Mohun Bagan’s goal-scoring prowess.
1. Jamie Maclaren
Jamie Maclaren might have had a shaky start to his career at Mohun Bagan, but he’s proven to be well worth the money in the second half of the 2024-25 ISL campaign. The 31-year-old scored 11 goals in 22 matches in the league phase, being among the top scorers so far. Maclaren will now be playing in his first-ever ISL playoffs, a format that he is quite well aware of.
He had played in 14 A-League final series matches, in which the forward even manaed to score five goals! Maclaren is coming into the ISL playoffs in hot form, having scored five goals and provided an assist in his last five appearances. He has hit his peak form, forming a special bond with his teammates and the understanding to get into the right areas as well as knowing exactly where the passes will be delivered.
As long as Maclaren can maintain his fitness and keep making those clever unpredictable off-the-ball runs, he is likely to continue his goal-scoring prowess and play a key role in Mohun Bagan’s charge for the ISL title.
