Many new faces came under the spotlight on ISL matchweek six.
Matchweek 6 of the Indian Super League (ISL) season was packed with drama and high-energy performances, with six entertaining clashes among the 11 competing sides. Sergio Lobera‘s Odisha FC secured a vital win against East Bengal FC, who are struggling this season with six consecutive losses.
Meanwhile, Chennaiyin FC and a faltering FC Goa shared the points after a 2-2 draw, though the validity of Chennaiyin’s second goal was hotly contested by Goa as they felt the ball was caught cleanly by goalkeeper Laxmikant Kattimani and the ball did not cross the goal line.
The Southern Derby saw Bengaluru FC extend their winning streak with a dominant victory over Kerala Blasters in Kochi. In Guwahati, Juan Pedro Benali’s NorthEast United trounced Jamshedpur FC with an emphatic 5-0 scoreline, while Thangboi Singto’s Hyderabad FC cruised to a 4-0 win over Mohammedan SC at the Kishore Bharati Krirangan in Kolkata.
The week wrapped up with Odisha FC, reduced to 10 men, grinding out a 1-1 draw against Mumbai City FC.
In this article, we at Khel Now bring you the top five Indian players of Matchweek 6, who played instrumental roles in their teams’ performances.
5) Udanta Singh
The winger who has played at multiple positions for the Guards this season scored the first equalizer right at the stroke of halftime.
Udanta was decisive in his positioning and combined well with Boris Singh on the right-hand side swapping positions. Udanta had a terrific passing accuracy of 83 percent completing 33 passes out of 40 attempts.
4) Amrinder Singh
The Odisha FC goalkeeper came in clutch against his former side Mumbai City FC. Odisha were a man down in the final few minutes of the game and the experienced goalkeeper kept his side in contention with three crucial saves.
3) Lallianzuala Chhangte
The Mumbai City FC captain continued his fine form despite his team not finding their feet yet in the league this season.
The AIFF Player of the Year winner assisted the equalizer to Nikolaos Karelis while also helping the team in the build-up for the attacks. The Mizo winger was crisp with his passing with 87 percent completing 27 out of 31 attempts.

2) Parag Shrivas
Parag notched up his debut ISL goal in the game against Mohammedan by scoring a worldie from outside the box placing the ball in the top right corner leaving no chance for the defense to close it out.
Defensively, Parag withstood the pacy threat from Lalremsanga and made sure the Kolkata side did not sniff a chance down the Hyderabad’s left-hand side.
1) Parthib Gogoi
The baby-faced assassin from the hills and plains of Assam scored his 10th ISL goal of his career and became the youngest to score 10 goals before turning 22.
His goal, one of the five scored against Jamshedpur, highlighted his natural goal-scoring instincts and composure.
Parthib’s pace, positioning, and finishing ability were on full display, as he contributed significantly to NorthEast United’s dominant performance. His continued development promises exciting times ahead for both his club and Indian football.
