Many Indian players impressed in the ISL game week 17.

We are said and done with the 17th and the longest match week of the 2024-25 Indian Super League (ISL) season. It was a week filled with draws and just two definite results. The week started with Kerala Blasters securing a dramatic comeback win for Odisha FC in the final minute of the game before NorthEast United rescued a point against FC Goa. Mohammedan SC came back from 2-0 down to secure a point against Chennaiyin FC in stoppage time.

Punjab FC and Mumbai City FC shared spoils in the fourth match this week in ISL followed by a draw between Mohun Bagan and Jamshedpur FC. Bengaluru FC also shared points with Hyderabad FC before NorthEast United settled for a draw against a ten-men Kerala Blasters FC. FC Goa defeated East Bengal in the final match of the week.

On that note, let us take a look at Khel Now’s team of the week for game week 17.

Formation: 4-4-2

GK – Sachin Suresh (Kerala Blasters FC)

Sachin Suresh was phenomenal this week in ISL. He was undoubtedly the best goalkeeper and helped Kerala Blasters get four points across two matches. He made eight saves, including four from inside the box. Sachin played his heart out and did not let NorthEast United’s dominant attacking unit score a single goal. He also came off his line to make two important clearances in both the games.

RB – Sandesh Jhingan (FC Goa)

Sandesh Jhingan seems to be returning to his best shape. The Indian international has been rock solid at the back for FC Goa and has kept things very tight. Jhingan recorded 25 clearances, five blocks and four interceptions across two games this week in ISL. He averages a passing accuracy of 95.5% and won 8/9 of his aerial and ground duels. Moreover, he also had a shot on target.

CB – Milos Drincic (Kerala Blasters FC)

Milos Drincic stood up to the occasion and defended with his heart on his sleeves. He kept the league’s top scorer Alaeddine Ajaraie in check with his awareness and defensive prowess. The Montenegrin defender made nine crucial clearances, two interceptions and one tackle while completing 83% of his passes. He also executed a key pass and won 2/3 of his ground duels this week in ISL.

CB – Stephen Eze (Jamshedpur FC)

Stephen Eze stole the show with his out-of-the-world solo goal against Mohun Bagan this week in ISL. The Nigerian defender started his run from his own half and skipped past all the players as if they didn’t exist before finding the back of the net. It is undoubtedly one of the best goals ever scored in the history of the league. In addition to that, Eze made six clearances, three blocks and tackles each while winning the majority of his duels.

LB – Subhasish Bose (Mohun Bagan SG)

Subhasis Bose continues to shine at the left-back position for Mohun Bagan. He is now a seasoned campaigner and knows the league really well. Bose scored his fourth goal of the season and helped Bagan rescue a point away from home. He also made six tackles, three clearances and interceptions each while 14 duels and executing one key pass in the process.

He rescued a point for Bengaluru FC with a second-half equaliser and made it ten goals for the season.
