ISL 2025-26: Spanish centre-forward Victor Bertomeu signs with Kerala Blasters FC

The versatile striker has scored 38 goals in his career.
Kerala Blasters FC have completed the signing of the 33-year-old Spanish centre-forward Victor Bertomeu ahead of the upcoming season. Victor joins the club on a short-term contract, which runs till the end of the 2025-26 season of the Indian Super League (ISL).
Victor becomes the fourth foreigner to join the Blasters after the signing of the former Germany U-18 international Marlon Roos-Trujillo, French winger Kevin Yoke, and former Gokulam Kerala FC midfielder Matias Hernandez for their upcoming ISL campaign.
“Victor is a player who has acquired a wealth of experience in Spain and Asia, which will hopefully stand us in good stead. We hope that he can show our fans what he is all about up front and have a good season for the Blasters,” said Kerala Blasters FC CEO, Abhik Chatterjee, following the signing.
“It’s an honour to sign for Kerala Blasters. I’ve heard a lot about the passion of the fans, and I can’t wait to feel that energy on the pitch. I’ll give everything for this badge. Vamos Kerala Blasters!” Victor shared his thoughts on joining Kerala Blasters FC
Victor will play a pivotal role in spearheading the Blasters’ attacks

Victor Bertomeu is a 33-year-old striker from Tarragona, Spain, with vast experience in Asian and European football. The Spaniard developed his footballing skills at his local club Gimnàstic de Tarragona, where he started his journey as a professional footballer in their U19 team.
Later, in 2011, Victor made a move to Pobla de Mafumet CF, before joining FC Asco in 2015, where he played for around four years.
From then, the striker had some brief stints across various clubs like CF Peralada, UA Horta and AE Prat, all playing in the lower divisions of Spain. In September 2021, he made his breakthrough move outside Spain, to join the seven-time Hong Kong Cup winners Eastern SC.
At Eastern, Victor made 66 appearances for the club and scored 28 goals, along with delivering 5 assists. His significant contributions helped the club to be named the Shield Winners of the Hong Kong Senior Challenge. Later in the season, Victor won the second trophy of his career, this time as the winner of the Hong Kong Cup.
Victor now joins the Blasters in a familiar Asian environment as a replacement for the Super Cup 2025 Golden Boot winner, Koldo Obieta, who parted ways with the club earlier this month. The striker now brings with him a strong blend of experience, physicality, and attacking intelligence, strengthening the Blasters’ options in the final third.
How can Victor bolster the Blasters’ attacking initiatives?
Standing at 1.84m tall, Victor brings aerial and physical superiority to the Blasters. The Spaniard could potentially bring back the old-school number nine physicality to the men in yellow, which they have been lacking ever since the departure of Dimitrios Diamantakos.
With a strong positioning in the final third and a solid understanding of structured systems, Victor can be a good fit under head coach David Catala.
With natural poacher instincts, Victor can effectively press the opponent’s backline and force errors from their side. Victor also becomes a reliable option to anticipate loose balls and rebounds and convert them into goals, with his clinical ability to score in close range.
Additionally, his vast experience in Asian football could help him to quickly adapt to the Indian environment. In essence, Victor, with his leadership qualities and presence of mind, could bring balance to the structured and disciplined Blasters’ playstyle.
The Spanish forward will now link up with the squad as Kerala Blasters continue their preparations for the new campaign.
