What happened when Kerala Blasters FC last faced Mumbai City FC in the ISL?

Kerala Blasters are unbeaten at home against Mumbai City FC since November 2022.
After a disappointing 2-0 loss to Mohun Bagan Super Giant in the first round of the Indian Super League (ISL) 2025-26, Kerala Blasters FC will be looking to bounce back with a dominant victory over Mumbai City FC. The match between the Tuskers and the Islanders is scheduled to take place on the 22nd of February at 7:30 pm IST, at the resplendent Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Kochi.
The last time these two teams locked horns against each other was in the final home game of the Blasters in the ISL 24-25 season, where the Blasters registered a hard-earned 1-0 victory against the Islanders, courtesy of Kwame Peprah, who scored the second-half winner. Here is a detailed report on what happened when Kerala Blasters FC last faced Mumbai City FC in the ISL.
Kwame Peprah’s solitary goal seals the victory for the Blasters

The Blasters last faced Mumbai City FC in the Indian Super League on the 7th of March, 2025. The match took place at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Kochi, and it also happened to be the last home match for the Blasters in the previous ISL campaign.
Coming into the match, Kerala Blasters FC had already been knocked out of playoff contention, and Mumbai City FC wanted to secure points to secure qualification. The match started on the offensive, and Mumbai City FC took the initiative, knocking on the Blasters’ doors from the first touch.
Chhangte got the first real chance of the match when he moved forward with the ball to deceive the Blasters players and attempt a shot at goal, which, to his dismay, hit the woodwork. Blasters also attacked back in regular intervals, but everything looked good until it came to the final third, where the men in yellow lacked finishing, and at the stroke of half-time, both teams entered the tunnel goalless.

A much-needed win for Kerala Blasters

In the second half, Korou Singh made a run from the midfield towards the Mumbai goal. Even though Yoëll van Nieff cleared away the ball, the clearance hit Korou and went into the 18-yard box. Peprah, who saw an opportunity, made a sprint to win the ball from Thaer Krouma, who displayed rather lazy defending.
After winning the ball from a tight angle, Peprah struck the ball towards the goal to break the deadlock and provide Kerala Blasters with the advantage. From then on, Mumbai were even more desperate to score and attacked from left, right and centre. However, the Blasters’ backline stood resilient and prevented the scoreline from changing.
In the dying minutes of the game, Vikram Partap Singh took a powerful shot at goal, and Nora Fernandes, the Blasters’ keeper, was completely blinded by the power of the ball. However, Bikash Yumnam made a last-ditch block to prevent Mumbai City FC from scoring and seal the win for the Blasters in the final home game of the ISL 2024-25.
The Blasters will yet again face Mumbai City FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Kaloor, for their first home game of the ISL 2025-26 season on the 22nd of February, 2026. The match is scheduled to kick off at 7:30, and fans all across India can watch the Kerala Blasters FC vs Mumbai City match on FanCode and Sony Sports Network.
