Jamshedpur FC vs Diamond Harbour FC Preview, team news, lineups & prediction | Durand Cup 2025 quarter-final

Steven Dias has been appointed JFC’s interim coach!

For one last time in the 134th edition of the Indian Oil Durand Cup, the JRD Tata Sports Complex in Jamshedpur gears up to host the quarter-final fixture. The Group C table toppers, Jamshedpur FC, will lock horns against the runners-up of Group B, Diamond Harbour FC, for a place in the semi-finals.

Unarguably, Jamshedpur FC have been one of the best teams in this competition, winning every single game so far in the campaign to make it to the quarter-finals. Diamond Harbour FC, on the other hand, recently secured promotion to the I League and has had an impressive campaign in the Durand Cup so far.

Stakes:

Jamshedpur FC

This will be the Red Miners’ first game in a year without Khalid Jamil in the dugout. Khalid mutually parted ways with Jamshedpur FC, and all eyes will now be on interim coach Steven Dias. The Red Miners have conceded just two goals in the entire campaign so far and have maintained a solid defensive line.

They have scored five goals in three games and will be looking forward to ending their home campaign on a strong note. It will be interesting to see if Albino will be back in the starting lineup or if Dias will go with an unchanged eleven for the next game.

Diamond Harbour FC

Diamond Harbour FC finished second in Group B after succumbing to a defeat against Mohun Bagan Super Giant in their final group stage fixture. They netted 11 goals in the entire campaign so far and conceded seven, with wins over Mohammedan SC and Border Security Force.

Kibu Vicuna will rely heavily on Luka Majcen and Jobby Justin to lead the attacking prowess and get the better of the Red Miners at their home ground in Furance. If they can dominate the midfield and win the one-to-one battles, they will have a serious shot at victory.

Team News

Diamond Harbour FC are expected to field the same team, whereas Jamshedpur FC might make a few changes. Albino is expected to replace Amrit Gope between the sticks, Rei could start in the next game, and Ashutosh Mehta’s experience could be prioritised in the next game.

Head-to-Head Record

This will be the first time that Jamshedpur FC will lock horns against Diamond Harbour FC in any major competition.

Predicted Lineups

Jamshedpur FC

Albino Gomes (GK); Ashutosh Mehta, Praful Kumar, Sarthak Golui, Nishu Kumar; Pronay Halder, Rei Tachikawa, Jayesh Rane; VP Suhair, Manvir Singh, Md Sanan

Diamond Harbour FC

S Malik (GK); Naresh, Ajith, Melroy Assisi, Kortazar, Liansanga, Paul, Clayton S, Joby, Girik, Luka Majcen

Players to watch out

Rei Tachikawa (Jamshedpur FC)

Rei Tachikawa (Jamshedpur FC) ISL

The Japanese Samurai is back in the Steel City. After Jeremy Manzorro’s departure, Rei Tachikawa took control of the midfield and has been outstanding for the Red Miners in the last two seasons. His ability to contribute offensively and aid the defence makes him an asset for Jamshedpur FC.

He is known for stepping up in big games and has previously carried Jamshedpur FC into the Super Cup Finals with his solitary goal against Mumbai City FC in the semi-finals. His chemistry with captain Pronay Halder will be key for Jamshedpur to dominate the midfield.

Clayton Da Silva (Diamond Harbour FC)

The 29-year-old Brazilian winger from Rio de Janeiro recently signed for Diamond Harbour and has been in sublime form since then. He has scored four goals so far, which also includes a hat-trick against the Border Security Force’s 8-1 thrashing.

It won’t be easy to get past the solid Jamshedpur defence, but Clayton will be keen to find his name in the score sheet and get the better of the Red Miners to propel the second Kolkata side into the semi finals.
