The Gaurs progress to the Kalinga Super Cup Final after dumping the Mariners following a 1-3 win.

Mohun Bagan were eliminated from the 2025 Kalinga Super Cup after suffering a 3-1 loss to FC Goa in the semifinal at the Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar, on Wednesday (30 April, 2025). The Gaurs took the lead in the 20th minute through Brison Fernandes’ header, before the Mariners bit back with a 24th-minute equalizer.

However, FC Goa pounced on a few goalkeeping errors to score twice through Iker Guarrotxena’s penalty (51’) and Borja Herrera’s Olimpico (direct free-kick) goal in the 58th minute to book them a place in the final of the Kalinga Super Cup. Here are the player ratings for the game:

Mohun Bagan (by Uttiyo Sarkar)

Dheeraj Singh – 3.5

Dheeraj Singh
Dheeraj Singh was a shadow of himself for Mohun Bagan against FC Goa during the Kalinga Super Cup 2025 semifinal.

A rough outing for the young goalkeeper. Could’ve done better to save the opening goal. Needlessly gave away a penalty with a clumsy foul and conceded a poor goal from a direct corner.

Saurabh Bhanwala – 4.5

Bhanwala struggled with the pace and intensity of Goa’s attacks. Made a few decent challenges, but was caught in awkward positions on multiple occasions .

Dippendu Biswas – 6.5

Did his job pretty well against Drazic. Maintained composure in regaining possession many times for his side and made some key clerances too.

Nuno Reis – 6.5

The Portuguese centre-back was pretty sturdy in his role. He didn’t let too many chances fall around his area and came up with some vital challenges to frustrate Goa.

Amandeep – 7.0

Amandeep did a pretty admirable defensive job, not letting the Gaurs create much through his side. He was alert and assertive with his work all game long.

Deepak Tangri – 6.0

The Mohun Bagan skipper was energetic and aggressive in regaining possession quite a few times. But lacked that driving nature in being unable to create much.

Abhishek Suryavanshi – 5.0

Suryavanshi couldn’t really stop Goa’s dominance in possession or do much to protect his backline from trouble. Lost the mark of Brison for his opening goal.

Sahal Abdul Samad – 5.0

Sahal linked up nicely with his teammates and was able to produce a few exciting moves with the ball. But he couldn’t create anything really major or test the goalkeeper.

Salahudheen Adnan – 6.5

The winger was a menacing figure on the right, costnatly driving forward with speedy runs and harassing the defenders. He produced some exciting moves, but scuffed a big chance in the second half after even getting past the goalkeeper.

Ashique Kuruniyan – 7.5

Ashique was explosive and a terrorizing factor on the left. He constantly kept the defenders guessing with his clever movement and made a great run to set up Suhail’s goal with a fantastic cross.

Suhail Bhat – 7.5

The young forward went out of the Super Cup with his head held high. Suhail’s off the ball movement and link up play was superb, and he was able to outwit the FC Goa defenders to slip into an empty space to score his side’s only goal.

Brison once again was the one of the main players for FC Goa. He helped his side get off to the perfect start and put Mohun Bagan defenders under a lot of pressure.

Dejan Drazic- 7

Drazic was responsible for winning his side a crucial penalty which was clinically dispatched by Iker Guarrotxena in the 51st minute. He was great at stretching Mohun Bagan defenders time and again.

Iker Guarrotxena (1 goal)- 6.5

Kalinga Super Cup 2025: Iker Guarrotxena stars as FC Goa kock Gokulam Kerala FC out
Iker Guarrotxena scored the second goal for FC Goa from the penalty spot against Mohun Bagan.

The Spaniard got on the scoresheet in a tough game against Dippendu Biswas and Nuno Reis. While it was only a penalty, Guarrotxena showed great endeavour and aggression to cause Mohun Bagan trouble. Missed a sitter in the second half to make it two goals on the night.
