It has been a rough opening few weeks for Kerala Blasters FC in the Indian Super League 2025–26 season.

Six matches in, they are still searching for their first win. The numbers don’t hide it. One point from six games. Just three goals scored. Ten conceded.

And now, change looks imminent.

According to Khel Now sources, Kerala Blasters are set to part ways with head coach David Català, with the final paperwork expected to be completed within the next 24–48 hours.

The latest blow came with a 1-3 defeat against Punjab FC, a result that has only increased pressure on the coaching staff.

There’s also an international break coming up, which gives them a window.

“The new coach will need some time, so during the international break, give Kerala Blasters time to make changes and bring in a new head coach to replace David Català, who will be on the way out in the next 24-48 hours”, a source told Khel Now.

Poor results, falling attendance, growing concern

The on-field struggles are now starting to reflect off it as well.

Home attendance has dropped to its lowest levels in the club’s history — a worrying sign for a team that has traditionally relied heavily on fan support.

There is also a growing feeling within the club that if things don’t improve quickly, relegation could become a real conversation later in the season.

Kerala Blasters are currently placed 13th in the standings:

It’s not just the results. The performances haven’t offered much reassurance either.

Squad questions starting to come up

There are also murmurs around recruitment.

“There is concern over the quality of the foreigners signed by the Kerala Blasters this season. Many of their signings have not played competitive football recently, and these foreigners look like they signed just to complete the quota of foreigners”, another source said.

The case of Oumar Bah hasn’t helped either. Signed before the season, he was moved on within weeks after failing to make an impact.

At the same time, the club allowed several Indian players to leave just before the season, including Nora Fernandes, Mohammed Aimen, Mohammed Azhar and Amey Ranawade, decisions that are now being questioned.

What next for Kerala Blasters?

Kerala Blasters’ next match is on 5 April 2026 against Sporting Club Delhi, another side struggling in the bottom half.

But before that, the focus will be on the dugout.

The decision now is not just about replacing a coach. It’s about whether the club looks for a familiar ISL name to steady things or takes another risk.
