The versatile forward has scored 66 goals in his club career.

Kerala Blasters have a history of bringing some exciting foreign strikers to the Indian Super League. From Michael Chopra in 2014 to Dimitar Berbatov in 2017-18, and more recently, Jorge Pereyra Díaz and Álvaro Vázquez in 2021-22, the club has always aimed high. However, despite their extensive profiles, many of these forwards haven’t found lasting success with the Blasters. Two years ago, they brought in Dimitrios Diamantakos, who managed to score 28 goals in 44 matches for the club, but he departed for East Bengal before the start of this season.

Since then, Kerala Blasters have been looking for a worthy replacement for the Greek striker. They’ve engaged in advanced talks with several high-profile forwards across Europe and South America, searching for the perfect fit.

Blasters fans can finally breathe a sigh of relief: The club has completed signing a new forward for the ISL 2024-25 season.

Spanish striker Jesús Jiménez Núñez joins Kerala Blasters ahead of ISL 2024-25

Khel Now can reveal that Spanish forward Jesús Jiménez Núñez has signed for Kerala Blasters.

“Jesús Jiménez is a complete forward. He’s not just a goal scorer; he can also provide crucial assists. Kerala Blasters have agreed to terms with him and have completed signing,” a source close to the development informed Khel Now.

Jiménez began his professional career in Spain’s third tier with CF Talavera in the 2017-18 season, where he netted 12 goals in 37 matches. His impressive performances caught the eye of Ekstraklasa club Górnik Zabrze, where he played 134 matches, scoring 43 goals and providing 25 assists over several seasons. His last season with the Polish first-tier club was in 2021-22, during which he made 21 appearances.

After leaving Górnik Zabrze, Jiménez moved to Major League Soccer in the USA, playing for Toronto FC and FC Dallas. He later returned to Europe to sign with Greek club OFI Crete FC, but injuries hampered his time there, and he struggled to make a significant impact.

Inn his career, Jesús Jiménez has featured in 237 matches, scoring 66 goals and providing 31 assists.
