Santosh Trophy: List of all winners
West Bengal has been the most successful team in Santosh Trophy.
The Santosh Trophy, formally known as the Senior National Football Championship, is a prestigious Indian domestic football competition organized by the All India Football Federation (AIFF). Since its inception in 1941, the tournament has been held annually, except for the 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The competition features 37 teams representing regional state associations and government institutions, divided into five zones: North, South, East, West, and North East. These teams go through qualifying rounds to reach the main event, which consists of group stages followed by knockout rounds.
In the 76 editions held until 2023, West Bengal have emerged as the most successful team, boasting 32 titles and 14 runners-up finishes. Punjab follow as the second most successful team, having won the title eight times and reaching the finals on 16 occasions. Kerala and Services have each claimed the title seven times, showcasing their consistent performances over the years.
Other notable teams include Goa and Karnataka, each with five titles and Maharashtra with four. The Railways and Andhra Pradesh teams have each won the Santosh Trophy three times. Delhi, Manipur and Mizoram have managed to secure the title once each, marking their place in the tournament’s history.
