The stage is set for Kalinga Super Cup 2025 as the brackets are locked, and Indian football fans are in for a knockout spectacle starting on April 20 in Bhubaneswar. The Super Cup will witness 16 of the country’s top football teams competing for the title of this year’s cup winners.
The 2025 edition of the tournament promises thrilling matchups, rivalries, and high-stakes drama, culminating in the grand finale on May 3. East Bengal FC, the reigning Super Cup champions, will be keen to put on a good show ahead of an important campaign.
East Bengal FC will kick off the 2025 Kalinga Super Cup

The tournament will open with a pair of mouth-watering clashes on April 20. Following a disappointing 2024-25 Indian Super League (ISL) campaign, Kerala Blasters FC will take on East Bengal FC, who are expected to be a tough out as they will be looking to defend their crown.
Meanwhile, Mohun Bagan Super Giant might get a bye in the first round, with I-League clubs except Churchill Brothers SC and Inter Kashi refusing to participate this season. The winners of these two fixtures will meet in the first quarterfinal on April 26.

April 21 will continue the pulsating action when FC Goa will play either Inter Kashi or Churchill Brothers SC or get a bye for a place in the quarterfinals. The Gaurs are coming fresh off a heart-breaking loss against Bengaluru FC, and will aim to show their quality from the first whistle in the Kalinga Super Cup this season.
In the other game, Odisha FC will be locking horns with Punjab FC, with both sides keen to salvage relatively poor seasons. The Juggernauts will be highly motivated after narrowly missing out on the playoffs this season, and the Shers might prove to be a challenging opponent. The victorious sides will clash in the second quarterfinal, also scheduled for April 26.
The Blues stand a chance of winning a domestic double

The right side of the bracket features some of the powerhouses of Indian football. On April 23, ISL finalists Bengaluru FC will potentially square off against one of the two I-League clubs or receive a bye for the third quarterfinal.
The other game will see Chennaiyin FC face 2023-24 ISL champions Mumbai City FC in a mouth-watering clash. The winners from both ties will meet in the third quarterfinal on April 27, potentially seeing a high-profile clash between two South Indian heavyweights in the Kalinga Super Cup.
NorthEast United FC favourites to make another semifinal appearance

April 24 completes the Round of 16 lineup with a motivated NorthEast United taking on a Mohammedan SC side struggling for form and momentum this season. The second game will see Jamshedpur FC going head-to-head against Hyderabad FC in a battle of two promising sides for the future.
While the Highlanders will be keen to replicate their performances in the 2024 Durand Cup, their job will be cut in the Kalinga Super Cup. The respective game winners will battle it out in the fourth quarterfinal, scheduled on April 27.
The winners from the quarterfinal round will play in the semifinals, which are lined up for April 30, setting the tone for what is expected to be a blockbuster Kalinga Super Cup final scheduled for May 3, 2025. Each knockout game raises the stakes with a loss, resulting in elimination.
The 2025 edition of the Kalinga Super Cup promises to bring back the raw excitement of single-elimination football. With traditional giants, rising contenders, and dark horses all in the mix, this year’s competition is poised to deliver unforgettable moments.
