FC Goa vs East Bengal Player Ratings: Hrithik Tiwari makes it count for Gaurs to secure another Super Cup title

FC Goa edge East Bengal in penalties to confirm their place in the AFC Champions League 2 playoffs.

FC Goa will have another shot at representing India in Asia as they defend their AIFF Super Cup title in a thriller of a contest against East Bengal. The Gaurs held their nerves in the penalties to reward the loud and proud home crowd at the Fatorda Stadium with another silverware.

At the end of the regulation time, it was a goalless stalemate between the two sides. The match went down to the wire, with penalties deciding the fate. FC Goa started the penalties on a forgettable note, but East Bengal failed to capitalise and had to pay the cost in the sudden death.

Player Ratings

FC Goa

Hrithik Tiwari – 8/10

A composed performance from the keeper. He produced several crucial saves that kept East Bengal stable during Goa’s strongest spells. Hrithik was confident with his ball distribution as well. During the penalty shootout, he remained calm and composed, giving FC Goa the stability they needed to finish the job. A standout performance in a high-pressure final.

Pol Moreno Sanchez – 6.5/10

Pol Moreno Sanchez had an average outing, doing just enough to keep things steady for Goa. He stepped in with a few well-timed tackles and read situations cleanly, helping break East Bengal’s attack.

Boris Singh – 6/10

Boris showed energy early on but was overly physical. He picked up a yellow card within minutes and had to be taken off in the 26th minute to avoid further trouble.

Aakash Sangwan – 6.5/10

Aakash was not heavily challenged in the first half, but handled every defensive situation presented to him with commendable solidity. Maintained disciplined positioning, dealt with pressure cleanly, and ensured stability on his flank.

Ronney Wilson Kharbudon – 6/10

He was strong defensively during his brief time on the pitch, staying composed in duels and positioning himself well. He was taken off in the 26th minute

Ayush Chhetri – 7/10

Ayush brought pace and energy into the midfield, helping Goa push forward with quicker transitions. His link-up play with Brison was very helpful in pushing for a goal for the Gaurs.

David Timor Sva – 7/10

David Timor Sva worked hard throughout the match and consistently pushed forward to turn half-chances into a lead. Took a few shots from distance, but none found the target.

Borja Herrera – 6/10

Borja was not at his usual influential best, but still delivered a steady performance. He kept the midfield going on and contributed where needed, even if his impact wasn’t as strong as in previous matches.

Dejan Drazic – 6/10

Drazic worked well in midfield and contributed positively to FC Goa’s build-up play and even had a shot. However, some of his challenges were a bit reckless. He also received a yellow card for dissent.

Javier Siverio – 6.5/10

Javier Siverio managed to get into good spaces and created a couple of openings, but the final execution let him down. His efforts were often too high to truly score the goal.

Brison Fernandez – 7/10

A consistent creative force for FC Goa. He repeatedly found acres of space and created clear chances, but none were converted thanks to strong goalkeeping by Gill. Still, his influence in the final third was one of Goa’s positives.

Substitutions

Udanta Singh – 6/10

He showed good pace on the wings and stretched the defence at times. Carried the ball well and contributed to Goa’s forward momentum, but couldn’t translate his runs into goals

Nim Dorjee – 6/10

Nim came on early and did a good job defensively. He held his position, cleared danger when needed, and avoided major errors.

Abdul Rabeeh – NA

Rabeeh was introduced in the closing stages and didn’t have enough minutes to leave a clear impact on the contest.

Sahil Tavora – NA

Sahil Tavora entered the match late and had too little time to influence the game meaningfully. But he will never forget the last penalty that secured FC Goa’s second consecutive AIFF Super Cup title.

Muhammad Nemil – NA

The youngster had almost no time to influence the  momentum of the match and could only complete a few runs on the wing.

East Bengal FC

Prabhsukhan Singh (7/10)

The East Bengal custodian had a phenomenal time in the goal. He was impregnable today and made some outstanding saves to stave off the pressure from FC Goa. Prabhsukhan did attempt some mind games in the penalties and came close to saving some, but could not execute them.

Lalchungnunga (7/10)

Lalchungnunga started in the left-back position and put in an impeccable performance. He could produce much moving forward, but did his job in in defense.

Anwar Ali (7.5/10)

The mainstay of East Bengal’s central defence was alert throughout the game. Anwar Ali made some vital clearances and blocks to deny FC Goa’s attackers space to create goal-scoring opportunities. His partnership with Kevin Sibille made East Bengal’s defensive unit a tough nut to crack.

Kevin Sibille (7/10)

Together with Anwar Ali, Kevin Sibille was also close to his best. The centre back made the right decisions on the pitch and kept things under control for East Bengal till the end of extra time. He also started the penalties for East Bengal with a confident conversion.

Mohamad Rakip (7.5/10)

Just like other defenders, Mohamad Rakip also had an instrumental role in keeping it tight till the end. In the wide defensive areas, Rakip showed his tenacity was relentless in thwarting FC Goa’s plans.

Bipin Singh (7.5/10)

Bipin Singh was one of the major sources of creative threat that East Bengal posed on the wings. Some of his runs on the wings troubled the FC Goa defenders to stand their ground.

Saul Crespo (7.5)

The East Bengal skipper continued his good form in the final. Saul Crespo had a positive intent and he made progressive runs whenever he found some space. Combining with other players he made East Bengal’s attacking play exciting.

Mohamad Rashid (6.5/10)

Mohamad Rashid was a reliable figure for the Red and Gold Brigade in the midfield. His strong presence in the centre of the park helped East Bengal not leave space for FC Goa players to find those threatening runs or passes.

Miguel Figuera (7.5/10)

The Brazilian midfielder was one of the best performers for East Bengal in the high-stakes final. His creative skills in the centre of the park helped the Red and Gold Brigade create threatening chances.

Mahesh Singh (6/10)

Naorem Mahesh Singh had a decent game on the wings. He had a few opportunities where he could pile on pressure on the opposition in the box but lacked the sharpness.

Hiroshi Ibusuki (6.5/10)

Hiroshi Ibusuki arguably had his best game in East Bengal colours. He was at the right place at right time on multiple occasions but failed to convert those chances. East Bengal fans would have loved to see their targetman scoring.

Substitute

PV Vishnu (7/10)

PV Vishnu was introduced in place of Naorem Mahesh. He lived up to the expectations of Bino George and made a positive impact as a substitute. Vishnu came in and brought more energy on the wings, and he came close to scoring after a lightning run, but Hrithik Tiwari managed to keep the score line undisturbed.

Jay Gupta (N.A.)

Jay Gupta did not have much to have a substantial impact on the game.

David Lalhansanga (N.A.)

David Lalhansanga was brought in the last few minutes of the regulation time. He made his presence felt with a shot or two.

Hamid Ahadad (N.A.)

Hamid Ahadad was out of action for most of the campaign due to injury, but made a cameo appearance in the final. He was one of the players who successfully converted his penalties for East Bengal.
