The Tuskers will face the Phoenix for the first time ever.

Kerala Blasters lock horns against SC Delhi for their second match of the Group D fixture in the Super Cup 2025. The match will be played on the 3rd of November at the GMC Athletic Stadium, Bambolim, at 4:30 pm.

The Phoenix will be looking forward to brushing off the disappointment of the 4-1 loss against the Islanders in the first round with a solid win, but ahead of them are the Blasters, who edged past Rajasthan United FC with a late goal from Koldo Obieta.

With contrasting results in round one and a common aim of a victory in the second round, the Super Cup clash between the Tuskers and the Phoenix will be an exciting one to witness.

The Stakes

Kerala Blasters FC

For Kerala Blasters FC, the match against Sporting Delhi is like a stepping stone towards their hopes of a maiden silverware. After a hard-earned victory against Rajasthan United, David Catala and his side will be looking forward to their second consecutive win with a huge margin, a result which could potentially take them to the top of the table.

After a rather passable experimental lineup in the first match, benching key players like Noah, Dusan, Amey and Naocha, Catala must deploy his strongest side for their clash against Delhi to prevent the struggle that the team faced for a significant part of the match. If the gaffer can frame a balanced squad and inject some more intent into the team, the Tuskers could potentially dominate the Phoenix and win with a big margin in the Super Cup clash.

Sporting Club Delhi

Sporting Club Delhi, after a disappointing loss against Mumbai City FC, would be looking forward to prevailing over the Blasters and securing the club’s first-ever victory. Under the dawn of their new Head Coach, Tomasz Tchorz, who also happened to be the Interim Head Coach for the Blasters last season, SC Delhi would be hoping to carve out their new identity.

With a good mix of young talents and a small roster of international players, winning this do-or-die match is the only option for keeping the capital city’s hopes of qualifying for the semi-finals alive.

Team News

Kerala Blasters FC forward Tiago Alves slipped during a training session and was not in the squad for the match against Rajasthan United FC as a precautionary measure. However, the player is expected to be fully fit for the match and apart from that, there are no major concerns on the Blasters’ side.

SC Delhi is also fortunate to have its full roster for the Super Cup 2025 match against Kerala Blasters FC.

Player To Watch Out For

Kerala Blasters – Koldo Obieta

Kolo Obieta's late goal seals the victory for Kerala Blasters in Super Cup opener

One of the Blasters’ newest additions, Koldo Obieta, emerged as their saviour in their crucial first-round match against Rajasthan United. With over a decade long experience in professional football across Spain and Poland, the 32-year-old Spanish striker joined the forces of the Tuskers earlier this month and created an instant impact in his very first appearance for the club.

In the match against Rajasthan, Koldo was seen pressing high and kept piling pressure upon the opponent’s backline. Though the striker was a bit shaky in the initial minute, he later got the grip of the game and linked up well with Nihal, Korou and Noah. In the dying minutes of the game, Koldo had the presence of mind and seamlessly scored the winning goal for the Blasters after heading in a cross from Juan Rodriguez to start the Blasters Super Cup campaign with a win.

Sporting Club Delhi – Andrei Alba

The Brazilian midfielder Andrei Alba is essentially the irreplaceable soul of Sporting Club Delhi. With three goals and an assist for Hyderabad FC in the 2024/25 season, Alba is the only retained foreigner for the newly rebranded side. Alba has proven his worth in the ISL by posing as the central figure in the midfield and acting as a link between the backline and the offensive unit. This has seen the midfielder creating dozens of chances for his side.

In the match against Mumbai City FC, though his team was on the losing side, the midfielder displayed good intent and purpose, scoring the solitary goal for the Phoenix after converting a penalty in the 76th minute, marking the first-ever goal for Sporting Club Delhi.
