Kerala Blasters FC eye for a winning start against Rajasthan United FC in Super Cup 2025

Kerala Blasters will be eying their first-ever silverware
After a long wait of 187 days, the Kerala Blasters are all set to lock horns against the I-League Side Rajasthan United FC for their first match of the Group D fixtures of the Super Cup 2025. The match will be played at the GMC Athletic Stadium, Bambolim, on Thursday, the 30th of October.
With both sides desperate for a win, to start off the 2025-26 season on a positive note, the clash between the ISL side and the I-League side will be a highly entertaining one to watch.
The Stakes
Rajasthan United FC

Rajasthan United had a relatively decent performance in the 2024/25 I-League Season, as they managed to bag 33 points to finish in 5th position with nine wins, six draws, and seven losses. However, following the withdrawal of Churchill Brothers and Real Kashmir FC from this edition of the Super Cup, the Jaipur-based club has been granted a wild-card entry to the tournament, which they will aim to utilise in the best possible manner.
Rajasthan United have a relatively modest squad. The team features a good mix of both international and domestic players, who will be aiming to make a mark in the Super Cup against a strong ISL Club.
Even though they do not have a staggering squad with top players on paper, their squad cannot be underrated, as they have historically managed to turn the tables and emerge victorious against stronger opponents, including a thrilling 3-2 victory against a strong ATK Mohun Bagan side in the 2022 Durand Cup, which featured notable names including Hugo Boumous, Carl McHugh, Florentin Pogba and more.
If Rajasthan can display a positive intent throughout the ninety minutes, they could potentially create an upset and clinch a famous victory against the Tuskers.
Kerala Blasters FC

For Kerala Blasters, this tournament is everything about comebacks and redemption. Following a very disappointing ISL season and a rather lethargic Super Cup 2024 campaign, the Tuskers will be aiming to redeem themselves with a positive outcome in this tournament.
Blasters are the only team among the 14 ISL teams that still haven’t managed to etch a silverware to their name, and the Super Cup will be their first opportunity to brush away the longing disappointment of being a trophy-less side. This is also the time for David Catala to justify his new additions with the likes of Koldo Obieta, Tiago, Juan, Amey, Arsh and Sumit Sharma and create a balanced and coordinated side ahead of the Super Cup.
While the continued tensions among the Blasters fans have eased up after the reinforcements of the squad, the Tuskers must be able to translate this depth in the squad into positive results to provide the fans with a statement that they are here to contend for the trophy.
After almost three weeks of intense preparations, if the Blasters, under the leadership of their beloved captain Adrian Luna, could bring out a well-oriented lineup with a positive intent and a winning mentality, then they could potentially be the favourites to win the Super Cup.
Team News
Both Rajasthan United FC and Kerala Blasters FC are expected to have a fully fit squad, including their foreign roster, ahead of their Super Cup 2025 clash.
Player to Watch Out For
Adrian Luna – Kerala Blasters FC

Adrian Luna is arguably one of the best players who has played under the Kerala Blasters FC badge. The 33-year-old Uruguayan quickly became Manjappada’s fan favourite and an indispensable soul of the Blasters. With around seventy-odd appearances in yellow, the captain is the highest-capped foreigner in the club’s history.
Luna made an instant impact in the 2021-22 season as he amazed the fans with his uncanny ability to contribute to the team’s success, mastering every position and earning the name ‘Magician’ for his ability to magically lead his team towards victory. In that season, he led the Blasters to the final. Later, in the upcoming two years, his significant contribution helped the team reach the playoffs consecutively for the first time since the inception of the club.
With 13 goals and 23 assists, Luna is one of the top goal contributors for the Tuskers. Though the 2024/25 season has not been the best year for the midfielder on the pitch, he will be looking forward to coming back in full force. If Luna can combine well with the foreign roster, along with linking up well with the Indian players and craft quality attacks, he could potentially be the first captain to lead Blasters to a trophy.
