Forca Kochi faced their fourth consecutive defeat

The iconic Maharajas College Ground geared up to host the strong Thrissur Magic FC for the final matchday of the round four fixtures of the Super League Kerala, where the visitors edged past the host in the 91st minute after a nail-biting encounter.

Though there were multiple attacks crafted by both sides to find the back of the net and bag the vital three points, the two Under-23 keepers, Kamaludheen and Murshid, were alert and did not take their eyes off the ball, and created an impenetrable goal, which both Kochi and Thrissur failed to break past.

In the 91st minute, just as it felt that the game would end in a stalemate and Forca Kochi would earn their first point of the season, Bibin Ajayan capitalised on the defensive error of Forca Kochi to provide a through ball to Afsal, who scored the winner for Thrissur in one of his very first involvements and seal the one-nil victory for Thrissur Magic FC in the Super League Kerala.

Thrissur barges to the Top of the Super League Kerala Table

With this 1-0 victory, Thrissur Magic FC have progressed to the Super League Kerala at the end of matchday four. With three victories in their four encounters, the Magicians have secured nine points in their bag and rest comfortably in the first position with a goal difference of +2.

Behind them are the two unbeaten teams of the Super League Kerala, Kannur Warriors and Malappuram FC, with 8 points and 6 points respectively. The defending champions and the semi-finalists of the inaugural season, Calicut FC and the Kombans, have occupied the 4th and 5th positions with 5 points and 4 points, correspondingly.

The runners-up, Forca Kochi FC, have cemented their position at the bottom of the table with zero points as they have lost all four of their matches played. With the tournament almost nearing the halfway mark, the Forca Cruz are on the verge of elimination and will have an uphill task to qualify for the knockout phase.

Forca Kochi will face one of the only unbeaten sides, Malappuram FC, on the 4th of November at home, and Thrissur Magic will lock horns against Kannur Warriors on the 7th of November at the Jawahar Municipal Stadium, for the first time in the history of Super League Kerala.
