AFC U17 Asian Cup Qualifiers: Updated points table, most goals after India U17 vs Lebanon U17

India will face Iran in a must-win clash to qualify.

India’s U17 qualification hopes suffered a major blow after losing 2-0 to Lebanon in the AFC U17 Asian Cup Qualifiers in Ahmedabad tonight. Two goals in the first half from Antoine Assaf and Paul Maakaroun were enough to clinch a comfortable lead in the first 45 minutes for the away side

Things became worse after Thonggoumang Touthang received a direct red card in the final few minutes of the game. As things stand, India are still in contention for the qualification spot and will require a win against Iran to guarantee their place in the AFC U17 Asian Cup 2026.

Iran are at the top

After a defeat to Lebanon, India are now placed third in the points table with 4 points. Lebanon’s win went in vain after Iran destroyed their qualification hopes with a win over Palestine. Despite Palestine taking the lead, Iran made a strong comeback to secure a 3-1 win and move to the top of the Group D points table.

Lebanon’s campaign is over, and only two teams remain in contention for that one coveted spot. After Matchweek 3, Iran and Lebanon finished as the only two unbeaten teams.

Palestine and Chinese Taipei will also lock horns in the final matchweek; both teams were eliminated after failing to win a single game so far.

A draw would suffice for Iran, but the Blue Colts would need a win to level Iran with seven points. If India wins the next match, they will have seven points and will overtake Iran to reach the top.
