New faces called up in India's probable squad for Vietnam International friendly
Few new names have been called up by Manolo Marquez.
Indian football team head coach Manolo Marquez, earlier today, announced a 26-member probable squad for the upcoming Vietnam Tri-Nation friendly tournament. Among the familiar names of Indian football stars, two fresh faces have been added with the likes of Lalrinliana Hnamte and Aakash Sangwan.
The inclusion of these two promising players brings new energy to the squad as India look to continue their upward trajectory in International football.
Both players have earned their spots through consistent performances in domestic leagues, and with their legs added to the team now, the Blue Tigers will look ahead to fulfill a successful conclusion of the Tri-Nation friendly tournament. Let us now take a look at the new members who have been called up by Manolo.
Lalrinliana Hnamte
Lalrinliana Hnamte, currently considered one of Indian football’s young and promising midfielders, has been steadily rising through the ranks in the domestic circuit for the last few seasons. Hailing from Mizoram, Hnamte has already showcased his talent in the Indian Super League (ISL), where his vision, work ethic, and technical prowess caught the attention of both fans and coaches alike.

At just 21 years old, the Mizo player has already made more than 50+ appearances and also has two goals under his name. Hnamte has played for eminent clubs like East Bengal and Mohun Bagan and is currently playing for Chennaiyin FC. So, without any doubt, this call-up to the national squad represents a golden opportunity for the youngster to cement his place on the International stage.
Aakash Sangwan
Aakash Sangwan is another exciting addition to Manolo Marquez‘s squad. The 28-year-old has made more than 115+ appearances, has bagged three goals, and also has 15 assists under his belt.
While his primary role is as a left-back, he has shown an ability to push forward, providing width and delivering dangerous crosses into the box. Having plied his trade with Chennaiyin FC in the last edition of the ISL, Sangwan’s defensive acumen and attacking abilities down the left flank have not gone unnoticed.
Aakash Sangwan, who is a perfect left-back with a solid defensive mindset and excellent ability to overlap on the flanks, makes him an ideal choice for coach Manolo Marquez and the Blue Tigers.
Hence for this upcoming Vietnam International friendly, Aakash’s inclusion in the squad reflects Marquez’s desire to strengthen India’s backline, while also maintaining the fluidity in attack that modern full-backs provide.
