Indian Football Team Player Watch: Anwar, Apuia & Manvir impress; Farukh, Rai need to improve

Khel Now is back with another analysis of the Indian football team players. This time the names of 25 players who will represent the nation in the match against Malaysia in an international friendly have been listed again.
This report has been prepared based on the Indian Super League (ISL) 2024-25 Game Week 8 to keep the players’ performance updated, while keeping an eye on the upcoming international friendly against Malaysia.
The performances of the 23 players till the Game Week 8 of ISL.
Amrinder Singh – 7
Amrinder has a decent outing in Gameweek 8. He played a crucial role in securing a crucial part for his side against Mohun Bagan. Singh made four saves, including two saves from inside the box alongside three high claims and one punch out.
Aakash Sangwan – 7
Aakash Sangwan continues to impress with his consistent displays in the league this season. He stood tall at the left back position and made three tackles and interceptions each alongside one block and clearance each. He also executed 4 key passes.
Anwar Ali – 7.5
Anwar Ali was one of the best-performing Indian players this week. He was rock solid at the back for East Bengal and cleared away everything that came his way. Although East Bengal were down to nine men, Ali pulled off eight clearances and one interception while winning all of his ground duels.
Asish Rai – 6
Asish Rai put up a decent performance in his side’s 1-1 draw against Odisha FC. He made an interception and tackle. Rai was at the top of his game with his ball distribution and completed 49/59 passes, including 5/5 long balls in this game.
Brandon Fernandes – 6.5
The attacking midfielder had 20 touches and completed 14/15 of his passes, including a key pass. He won three out of four ground duels and also won three fouls for his side.
Chinglensana Singh Konsham – 7
Chinglensana Singh operated in the middle of the park for Bengaluru FC in their 2-2 draw against NorthEast United. He executed 80% of his passes with perfection. Sana won three ground duels and four aerial duels.
Edmund Lalrindika – NA
Farukh Chaudhary – 6
Farukh Chaudhary put up an average performance this week. He only managed to complete 61% of his passes. He made three interceptions but lost the ball 10 times.
Gurpreet Singh Sandhu – 6.5
Gurpreet Singh Sandhu had one more disappointing outing. The goalkeeper made a silly mistake that led to a goal for the opposition. However, he did redeem himself in the remainder of the game with six saves, including five saves from inside the box.
Jeakson Singh Thounaojam – 6.5
Jeakson came on late in the game for East Bengal. He only had four touches and executed just one pass out of two attempted passes. He made an interception and also conceded a foul.
Lalengmawia – 7.5
Apuia gave a good account of himself this week. He was a mainstay in the middle of the park for the Mariners. He completed 48/55 passes with an accuracy of 87%. He won 10/12 ground and aerial duels. Apuia also made seven tackles and five interceptions.
Lallianzuala Chhangte – 6.5
Chhangte completed 25/32 passes, including a key pass. He won one of two ground duels but also lost the ball 10 times. He also had a shot blocked.
Liston Colaco – 6.5
Liston lost the ball 27 times throughout 88 minutes. He won 7/14 ground duels and made four tackles and two interceptions. Colaco also had a shot on target.
Manvir Singh – 8
Manvir was one of the top-performing Indian players yet again this week. He scored a goal and found the back of the net for the second consecutive game. Singh maintained a passing accuracy of 79% and also executed a key pass. His goal salvaged a point for the Mariners away from home.
Mehtab Singh – 6.5
Mehtab Singh made two clearances and blocks each. He made 78/90 of his passes with 87% accuracy. He also executed a key pass. Singh executed 12/18 long balls.
Rahul Bheke – 7
Bheke made five clearances and one tackle. He won ⅔ ground duels and completed 40/45 passes with an accuracy of 89%. He executed 14/19 long balls.
Roshan Singh Naorem – 6.5
Roshan made four clearances and one tackle. He lost ball possession 21 times and only completed 68% of his passes. However, he did create a big chance.
Subhasish Bose – 7
The Mohun Bagan skipper had a field day in the left-back position against Odisha FC. He made three tackles, interceptions and clearances each while 46/53 of his passes, including a key pass. Bose also completed 2/2 dribbles.
Suresh Singh Wangjam – 7
Suresh executed 48/53 passes with 91%, including two key passes. He made an interception and one tackle. He also completed ⅘ long balls.

Vishal Kaith – 7.5
Vishal Kaith stood strong for Mohun Bagan between the sticks this week. He made fives, including four from inside the box. He completed 91% of his passes and also made a clearance in the process.
Thoiba Singh – 6.5
Thoiba made four clearances and two tackles and also won two ground duels. He completed 28/32 passes with 88%. Overall, he put up a good performance.
Hmingthanmawia Ralte – 7
Valpuia made four clearances and three tackles while completing 42/52 passes with 81% accuracy. He won ⅚ ground duels and also had a shot off target.
Sandesh Jhingan – 6.5
Jhingan makes his long-awaited return to the national team after being out due to an injury. Jhingan has been a consistent performer at the back. He made one clearance, block, and one tackle.
Jithin MS – 7
Jithin MS has finally earned his first national team call-up after a series of consistent and impactful performances. The winger has provided four assists this season, including an assist in the last game against Bengaluru FC.
Vibin Mohanan – 7
Vibin Mohanan has been a key figure for Kerala Blasters in the middle of the park. He completed 55/59 passes with a 93% passing accuracy, including 5/5 long balls.
Irfan Yadwad – 6.5
Irfan has been one of the emerging players this season. He completed 10/15 passes while winning 3/6 ground duels and 2/2 aerial duels. He made two clearances and one block.
