Build up to the India vs Zimbabwe game in 2003 Afro Asian Cup

The city of Nizams, Hyderabad, hosted the 2003 Afro-Asian Games, where teams from Asia and Africa competed. Blue Tigers were drawn alongside Rwanda, Malaysia U21 and Ghana. After Ghana’s withdrawal, there were only three teams left in the group.
India was led by Stephen Constantine, and the Blue Tigers defeated Rwanda 3-1 in the opening goal after goals from IM Vijayan, Ashim Biswas and M Suresh won the game. In the second game, India defeated Malaysia U21 2-0 to finish the group as table toppers.
Talking about Zimbabwe, they defeated Burkina Faso 4-1 after a brace from Prince Vusumuzi Nyoni and Albert Mbano. They were held to a 1-1 draw against Iranian outfit Malavan, and in their final game, they played another 1-1 draw against Uzbekistan U21
