Blue Tigers will be back in London after 24 years

Valley Stadium in Floyd Road, London, gears up to host the Unity Cup 2026 fixtures, where two teams from Africa and a team each from Asia and America will compete and lock horns to become the champions of Unity Cup 2026. From Asia, the Indian team will represent in the Unity Cup.

FanCode, India’s premier digital sports destination, has acquired exclusive digital rights for the Unity Cup 2026 scheduled to be held in London, United Kingdom, from May 27 to May 31 (May 26-30 in the UK). All the games will be played at The Valley, home of Charlton Athletic.

India’s senior men’s national team will be facing Jamaica in the second semi-final fixture in the Valley. India is ranked 136th in the world and will face Jamaica, who are currently ranked 71st. Jamaica narrowly missed out on the World Cup 2026 after a defeat to the Democratic Republic of Congo in the Inter Confederation playoffs.

The event marks a historic return of the senior Indian men’s football team to the UK for the first time after 2002 and will see them compete against stronger, higher-ranked teams like Jamaica, Zimbabwe and Nigeria.

India will face Jamaica in the second semi-final scheduled for May 27. The winner will progress to the final, while the other team will play in the third-place play-off, both of which are scheduled for May 30. The matches will kick off at midnight India time.

Talking about the deal, FanCode co-founder Yannick Colaco said, “We are delighted to expand our football coverage with the broadcast of the Unity Cup. As the senior national team goes head-to-head with world-class opponents, fans are in for exciting football. This tournament underscores the team’s growing international prestige, and we remain steadfast in our mission to support this growth.”

Vince Macaulay, Unity Cup Event Director said, “We wanted a broadcast partner that truly understands Indian football and its passionate community – FanCode fits that perfectly. This tournament is a celebration of football, and we’re confident that fans will rally behind the Blue Tigers in a big way.”

The Indian national football team will be making a return to the Capital after 24 years. India last competed against Jamaica in the UK back in 2002 in two friendly fixtures. The first friendly in Watford ended in a 3-0 defeat for the Blue Tigers, whereas the second game was a goalless draw in Wolverhampton.

India bowed out of the race to qualify for the AFC Asian Cup 2027, and under Khalid Jamil, India clinched a bronze medal in the CAFA Nations Cup. It is a great opportunity for the Blue Tigers to compete against such quality teams, who regularly compete in the FIFA World Cup.
