Much-awaited and Crucial Win for Kerala Blasters, as they beat Mohammedan SC
T.G. Purushothaman’s Kerala Blasters FC finally gave their fans a Christmas gift with a much-needed victory over Mohammedan SC on a 3-0 win in front of their home fans in the Indian Super League (ISL) at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Kochi.
The win brought a sigh of temporary relief for Blasters fans, who have been vocal about their dissatisfaction with the club’s management.
The win notwithstanding, protests at the stadiums and online by the core supporter’s group, Manjappada, underlined that all was not well.
A Temporary Relief Under Interim Coaches
Interim coaches Tomasz Tchorz and T.G. Purushothaman motivated the team to an important victory that came after the sacking of head coach Mikael Stahre after their last defeat.

The young talent in the name of Korou Singh also played a vital role, providing a brilliant assist, and showing excellent vision and creativity in doing so.
This attacking trio of Luna, Noah Sadaoui, and Korou Singh started the tide for the Blasters. Luna found his form, but Noah and Kuru put up a brilliant combination with one providing and another scoring with the beautiful assist. Interim coach T.G. Purushothaman shared about the attacking performance saying,
“All the boys did their jobs to the best of their abilities, and it’s commendable from their side. As professionals, this is what they are expected to do, and they’re doing it absolutely right. Sometimes, we’ve had unlucky moments, which led to some defeats. But now, we’re bouncing back, and this is a great motivation for all the players as we prepare for the next match.”
Dominance in Set-Pieces
Interim coach Purushothaman pointed out the contribution of assistant coach Tomasz Tchorz in perfecting these routines. Speaking about their efforts, T.G. Purushothaman credited his coaching staff, especially Polish coach Tomasz Tchorz, for the help of strategic inputs. That goal showed the aerial ability of players like Millos and Pepra, both of whom might have added more goals from corners.
While the win brought some respite, it has not freed the club from the continuous protests going on against the management. Jubilant scenes occurred during the victory; banners showing disappointment and the chants showed people disgruntled with the poor account of the management that they required better accountability in front and better decisions thereof.
