"Sure, Khalid Jamil will put in good tactics to beat Brazil": France international Vikash Dhorasoo on India playing Brazil
VYBK is set to host the two international clashes on 3rd and 6th October.
The football fever is gripping Kolkata very tightly as the City of Joy is set to host two valuable international friendlies where the Indian Men’s National Football Team will take on two South American giants on 3rd & 6th October 2026.
The Blue Tigers are set to face Carlo Ancelotti’s Brazil on 3rd October, and then the Diego Forlán-led Uruguay will play at the Salt Lake Stadium on 6th October. Both clashes will surely boost global football exposure to the Indian football ecosystem, specially after they held a stalemate against Panama at Bengaluru.
Before the two important games for Indian football, the former France International Vikash Dhorasoo attended a press conference at the VYBK.
In the press conference, he highlighted some major points about the pathway of Indian Football and how Khalid Jamil’s squad should enjoy the game, as it will bring them important experience after facing star studded teams like Brazil and Uruguay.

A historic night awaits at VYBK’s turf, where both sides will play their first major international game against each other. Commenting on the match, Vikash Dhorasoo believes that this fixture can provide the Indian players with a valuable opportunity to test themselves against the five-time World Cup champions.
“I’m sure that coach Khalid Jamil will put a good tactic to beat Brazil.”
Former France International who even featured in the 2006 FIFA World Cup for the Les Bleus urged the Indian footballers to embrace the occasion rather than just playing the game and seek how a champion team implements their tactics during their outings.
“We have to take advantage of this moment. It’s a great moment for them. They have to enjoy the moment. Also, play football and try to make the best match of their life. But they have to enjoy the moment. It will take a lot of experience and memories. I’m sure that because football is a special sport, they can play a big match. Maybe they can score and win the match.”
“Each game has its own importance and helps you to progress. Of course, it’s a great help to play the best team in the world,” he said.
Vikash stresses the importance of domestic football

While acknowledging the games against Brazil and Uruguay, he also highlighted that one or two high-profile fixtures can not help the Indian football map on the global stage, and he stressed the importance of domestic football and local football.
From his point of view, India’s footballing development will depend on how the local and domestic leagues give the young prodigies their much-needed call-up, and that will lead to sustained development.

“Local football is just as important as the special game you might have,” he said.
“Football must be played. That’s the most important thing. And the beautiful thing is that it’s an easy sport to play. You only need a ball and players,” Dhorasoo said.
“The key point is to play, have fun and keep doing it.”
“India is fully part of my DNA, and this is my ancestors’ land”: Vikash Dhorasoo

Vikash opened up and shared his thoughts on the possibility of representing India in the global arena, then he would surely prioritise the opportunity, and now he also aims to help the AIFF with his thoughts to a greater extent.
He has a strong connection with his Indian roots, as he felt very proud to be at Kolkata for the very first time and thanked the AIFF for the opportunity.
“It is fully part of my DNA, and this is my ancestors’ land. I have this incredible link with India, which has always been rich in culture. Whether it is about food, whether it is about music, whether it is about movies, whether it is about language.”
“I like India; I have a special connection with India and also with Calcutta. It is my first time in Calcutta, so I am very happy to be here. It is also a football country with a big team, a big stadium, and a beautiful stadium, and I am very happy. I was invited by the Indian Federation, which organised everything very well. I would like to thank them for making all of this possible. I am a child with Indian origins.”
“My ancestors come from here, so I have a very strong link with India. It has never been broken because my parents, my grandparents, and my great-grandparents are of Indian origin. India has always been present in my home country because of the food. I am pleased to be here for the special game against Brazil.”
Meeting with Carlo Ancelotti

“I sent him a message when I saw that I would be coming to India. He answered me. We will meet tomorrow, maybe. I hope so. It was a real pleasure when he answered me because I hadn’t seen him for 20 years. I was very honoured to meet him tomorrow. It will be a good moment.”
“I am a coach now and he is one of the biggest coaches in the world. I hope we will also talk about how much advice he can give me. You know, when you play for AC Milan, you play for your family.”
