Vozinha led Cape Verde to the historic FIFA World Cup 2026 Round of 32.

Inter Miami could be set to make one of the most surprising signings of the summer, with reports linking the MLS club to Cape Verde goalkeeper Josimar José Évora Dias, better known as Vozinha.

According to Marca, the Florida-based club are closely monitoring the 40-year-old following his standout performances at the FIFA World Cup 2026. The experienced goalkeeper is currently a free agent after his contract with Portuguese side GD Chaves expired on June 30, making him an attractive option for clubs looking to add experience without paying a transfer fee.

Inter Miami, co-owned by David Beckham, are reportedly keen to strengthen their goalkeeping department ahead of the remainder of the MLS season. Vozinha’s availability and impressive World Cup displays have placed him firmly on the club’s radar.

Vozinha was one of the breakout stars of the FIFA World Cup 2026 as Cape Verde enjoyed a memorable run on their tournament debut.

The veteran goalkeeper played a very important role in helping the African nation reach the Round of 32, producing back-to-back match-winning performances against some of the world’s strongest teams.

His campaign began with an outstanding display against Spain, where he made seven saves to earn Cape Verde a famous goalless draw. He followed that with solid performances against Uruguay and Saudi Arabia as Cape Verde progressed to the knockout stage.

Vozinha once again caught the eye in the Round of 32 against defending champions Argentina. Although Cape Verde were beaten 3-2 after a dramatic contest, the goalkeeper repeatedly denied Lionel Messi and his teammates with a series of outstanding saves, keeping his side in the game until the closing stages.

His performances earned praise from fans and pundits alike and significantly putting him in the spotlight and on the radar of many other clubs ahead of the summer transfer window.

Which other teams can sign Vozinha?

Inter Miami are not alone in the race for the Cape Verde captain.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Brazilian clubs Avai and Atletico Goianiense have already made direct contact with the goalkeeper’s representatives over a potential move.

Meanwhile, reports in Brazil also suggest that several other clubs are monitoring his situation as a free agent. Those clubs include America Mineiro, Athletic Club, Botafogo-SP, Ceara, CRB, Criciuma, Cuiaba, Fortaleza, Goias, Juventude, Londrina, Nautico, Novorizontino, Operario Ferroviario, Ponte Preta, Sao Bernardo, Sport Recife and Vila Nova.

Despite growing interest from Brazil, Marca reports that Inter Miami remain keen on signing Vozinha after the FIFA World Cup 2026. His status as a free agent means the MLS club would not have to negotiate a transfer fee, making the move financially appealing.

Should the deal go through, Vozinha could soon swap trying to stop Lionel Messi on the FIFA World Cup stage for sharing the dressing room with the Argentine superstar in Miami.

Is Vozinha a free agent?

Yes. Vozinha became a free agent after his contract with Portuguese club GD Chaves expired on June 30, 2026.

Which clubs are interested in Vozinha?

Inter Miami have identified Vozinha as a transfer target after his impressive performances for Cape Verde at the FIFA World Cup 2026. Brazilian clubs Avai and Atletico Goianiense have reportedly contacted his representatives, while several other Brazilian sides are also monitoring his situation.
