The I-League has made me what I am today- Robin Singh

The Bengal Tigers had to settle for a draw on opening day but the two players looked forward to the rest of the campaign...
ATK stars Robin Singh and Zequinha met the press in Kolkata earlier today on the sidelines of the Indian Super League (ISL).
While Robin Singh expressed his views about the I-League, East Bengal and the chances of him getting back into the national side, Zequinha stressed the importance of getting star man Robbie Keane back as soon as possible.
“I’m a supporter of football. Not just East Bengal, Mohun Bagan we as a team watch the Champions League, Premier League even the I-League. I’m proud to have won the I-League. I’m honoured for the fact that I was part of a team that won the I-League. To sum it up, I’ve grown up. I will make sure to keep my professional standards high,” said ATK’s No. 9.
Robin has friends in the I-League and he misses them. He was adamant that he will always back his I-League's friends because they did so for him in his bad days. Singh, when asked the name of the club he has a soft corner for, answered that he loves East Bengal. He was not afraid to underscore his love for the Kolkata based club. The striker misses the club and cherishes the moments he's lived with the club. He also added that the club will always hold a special place in his heart.
“I will miss East Bengal. I have been a part of East Bengal and that was the club that gave me the chance to become a professional footballer. I have great memories with the club. Even six months back, I was with the club. So it will always have a special place.” added Singh

Though he's gone down the pecking order in India coach Stephen Constantine's plans he's very much optimistic that he'll get another chance to represent the country and is proud to have done it before. The forward said that it's no secret that everyone wants to represent his nation at the highest level. He opined that if he does the needful hard work, he will surely get back into the fray.
“I don’t know what’s in the mind of the coach (Stephen Constantine). This gives me another opportunity to work harder. I’m proud to play for my country, have been playing for a long time.", added former Bengaluru FC striker
“Hopefully if I work harder and he thinks I’m capable enough, I’ll be back in the team and I want to be back. Representing my country is the highest honour as a professional player. You want to represent your country,” said Robin.
ATK didn't have the best of starts in the Isl as they were held to a goalless draw against Kerala Blasters in the opening fixture of the season with the stylish forward himself starting on the bench.
When questioned about how the undesired start has affected the team's morale even after playing good football Singh sounded hopeful for the rest of the season. "It’s only been two games. I think every team we play against wants to give their best. ATK have been champions twice.”
