The Israeli returns to the club he briefly managed last season in the cash-rich league.

NorthEast United have announced that Avram Grant has taken up the role of an Advisor to the club with immediate effect. Avram joined us in January 2017 as an Advisor before taking on the role as Manager for the remainder of the season where he earned our first home win of the 2017-18 ISL campaign with an emphatic victory over Chennaiyin FC.

Speaking to NEUFC Media, Avram said, “I am happy to take on the role as Advisor to the club. The management and I are working very hard to help the club pursue our common goal of reaching at the very top of Indian Football.” 

With 46 years of experience in managing domestic and international sides such as Chelsea, West Ham, Portsmouth, Israel and Ghana, Avram relishes the challenge that lies ahead in the top tier of Indian Football. He further added: “The Indian Super League, although very young, is a brilliant platform for India’s best to showcase their talent. The competitive spirit, the atmosphere and fans are amazing and the league can only grow from here. I am very happy to be here.”

When asked if he has any message for the fans he said, “The fans are amazing! One of the best in the league! Their undying passion towards the club through the seasons has been tremendous and motivates us to improve ourselves.”

Announcing the appointment, a NEUFC spokesperson said, “Although he was with us for just a few months, Avram’s influence from the very start has been helpful and we are ecstatic to have him on board. His guidance is invaluable to the growth and development of the team.”

Avram’s appointment will begin with immediate effect. The club is working towards appointing a new manager and information on the same will be provided soon.
