The 33-year-old has been a mainstay for the Blues' attack in recent times.
In his two years in India, the Venezuelan hitman firmly established himself as a fan-favourite among the Bengaluru faithful and one of the best strikers to have played on Indian shores. In his debut season with the Blues, Miku finished Hero ISL 2017-18 as the team’s highest scorer with 15 goals. Only FC Goa’s Ferran Corominas scored more than him with 18.
After missing out on the title after a heart-breaking loss to Chennaiyin FC in the Hero ISL final, Miku was pivotal to Bengaluru’s redemption as they went on to lift the inaugural Hero Super Cup later that season. With 5 goals, Miku was the second-highest scorer in the competition behind teammate Sunil Chhetri.
The ace striker started the Hero ISL 2018-19 in fine fashion but an injury cut his season short. He, however, returned to the squad after the winter break and played a big role in guiding the team to the title, pitching in with 5 goals and 4 assists. Over the course of the last two seasons, the Miku-Chhetri partnership was considered as the most lethal front two in Indian football.
[KH_RELATED_NEWS title="Related News"][/KH_RELATED_NEWS]The 33-year-old's next destination is still unclear for now, but it was reported earlier this month that Venezuelan may be looking for new challenges abroad, with Mexico being his preferred destination. It was also stated that his agent has offers from clubs the Major League Soccer in USA and Paraguayan clubs. A return to the Hero ISL also can’t be ruled out, with the striker yet to announce where his future lies.
Miku's departure will leave a huge void in the Bengaluru front line - one which Carles Cuadrat and Co. will have to toil hard to fill.
