Mumbai City FC head coach Jorge Costa along with goalkeeper Ravi Kumar spoke to the press ahead of the side’s match against Bengaluru FC on Sunday. Mumbai travel to Bengaluru to face the defending champions, who are yet to lose a game in the league this season.
The Islanders have won just one game this campaign and have registered three consecutive draws, as they head into this encounter. Meanwhile, Bengaluru FC have found their momentum and are high on confidence after defeating Odisha FC in their previous game.

“It will be a different game for sure. Last season we played here (Kanteerava Stadium), for most of the time with ten men and we performed well. Our team is different than last season and I’m waiting for a good game tomorrow. If we perform like last season, I will be happy and our target is to fight for three points,” he said.
Thoughts On Bengaluru FC
“I’m looking forward to win the three points. It’s true that in the last games we did not lose, but we did not win. Tomorrow, we need to continue like this, play good, with quality, to have a little bit of luck because it is important in life and football. With all respect for Bengaluru FC, we’re only speaking about the champions. We respect all teams and for sure we respect Bengaluru FC. But, what we want is to make our game, to fight, to play with quality and to do our best to win three points,” Jorge Costa added.
The Portuguese tactician was asked about how he feels regarding the Mumbai City defence coming up against Bengaluru FC’s attack, he answered, “I don’t see football like this. Bengaluru FC have a good attack, but it’s not about the good attack against one defence. What I see is that Bengaluru FC have a very good team and tomorrow they will play against a very good team. This is how I see football, one team against the other. We know what they can do and we know what we must do. I can tell it again that we are here to fight for the three points.”
[KH_RELATED_NEWS title="Related News | Article Continues Below"][/KH_RELATED_NEWS]In a recent interview, Portuguese manager Jose Mourinho was seen praising Jorge Costa’s leadership abilities during the latter’s days as a player at FC Porto. Jorge Costa was quizzed about whether he sees anyone in the Mumbai City squad with similar qualities.
“If you’ve heard all the things that he (Jose Mourinho) said, it’s something that you don’t teach, you don’t learn, you’re born like this. In my team, fortunately, I can tell I have some players. I don’t like to compare people and for sure I don’t like to compare no one with me, I don’t like to speak about myself. I have players that you can consider are leaders," he concluded.
