'Fans' sentiments a priority while deciding ATK-Mohun Bagan logo, jersey'
A meeting between the board members is all set to take place on Friday regarding the name, logo and jersey of the newly-merged entity.
Ahead of the first board meeting of the newly-merged entity of ATK Mohun Bagan, we have some good news for the fans of the historic club.
Various names of the new entity have made rounds in the social media sparking several controversies among the fans. However, Khel Now has learnt from a source that three names of the newly-merged entity of ATK and Mohun Bagan have been shortlisted and now the Directors will take the final call on the matter through voting.
When Sanjiv Goenka declared that he is set to merge with the 131-year old club there was a lot of confusion regarding the jersey colours as well. So it is certain that the traditional Green and Maroon colours will be prevalent even in the jerseys of the newly merged entity. Moreover, the club has hired one of the top Indian agencies for all the branding work of the new entity.
A source close to the developments told Khel Now that, "The board has made sure that they will keep Mohun Bagan fans' sentiments on top priority before taking any decision. That is why the agency has been given clear instructions regarding brand guidelines and colours."
Coming to the logo, again the historic Green and Maroon touch will be preserved. Further, it is expected that the announcement regarding the logo and the name of the club will be revealed on Friday after the Board Meeting.
Recently, Utsav Parekh, a member of the board revealed that former Indian cricket team captain Sourav Ganguly will also join the newly-formed Board of Directors along with Sanjiv Goenka.

Last month, the merged entity got registered under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs and at that time ATK-Mohun Bagan Private Limited was represented by five members. And ATK FC co-owner Utsav Parekh was one of them. Meanwhile, the other members of the Board of Directors comprise of Mohun Bagan officials Debashish Dutta and Srinjoy Bose and two others members, Gautam Ray and Sanjeev Mishra. BCCI President Sourav Ganguly and Chairman of RPSG group Sanjiv Goenka were recently added to the Board of Directors.
If things go as per plan, it will be a matter of relief for Mohun Bagan supporters across the country. All they have to do now is to have some patience for the meeting on Friday. Ahead of the merger, ATK bagged their third Indian Super League title while Mohun Bagan won their fifth I-League title and now the merged entity is set to play in the upcoming ISL 2020-21 season.
