The 26-year-old was an integral part of the team in their run to the ISL title last season.
Pritam Kotal has signed a new two-year contract at ATK Mohun Bagan that will see him stay at the club till 2022. The move also comes on the auspicious 109th anniversary of Mohun Bagan's famous IFA Shield victory in 1911 -- an event widely celebrated as Mohun Bagan Day.
"It is a delight for me to sign for ATK Mohun Bagan FC. I have played and won with both clubs, so this is special for me," quoted Kotal after putting pen to paper.
"My aim is to give my everything for the team and to win trophies for the fans," he further stated.
Pritam Kotal was an integral part of ATK's title-winning campaign last season, as he also donned the captain's armband. Under Antonio Habas, he was one of the first picks in the starting XI, as he appeared in all 21 games for the eventual champions of the league. Having scored a solitary goal, Kotal performed a massive 149 clearances, 71 tackles along with maintaining a good 75.7% passing accuracy. The 26-year-old India international has led the team through crucial games in the ISL and remains a part of their robust defence.
This comes as one of the no-brainer moves by the club, as they look forward to building a legacy for themselves in Indian football, especially after the historic merger. ATK Mohun Bagan will feature in the AFC Cup next season and keeping the same in mind, they will look to retain the core of the title-winning team from the previous term.
That said, they have already extended ties with dynamic duo Roy Krishna and Prabir Das, with the latter signing a three-year contract. Now, that Pritam Kotal has also signed a two-year contract, the fans' excitement will know no bounds as they prepare for the new entity's debut in the league next season.
