I think Mumbai deserved to win the game, Manolo Marquez
The table-toppers ended the unbeaten streak of the Nizams.
The Manolo Marquez led Hyderabad FC suffered their first loss of the season as they went down 2-0 against Mumbai City FC at the Tilak Maidan. Vignesh and Adam Le Fondre found the back of the net in the first of the two games of the day for Mumbai against the Nizams and continue to be on top of the table. Chances came for Hyderabad FC as well, who unfortunately failed to convert them and that cost them the points from today’s fixture.
A Lesson for the team
Hyderabad FC suffered their first loss of the season after an unbeaten run of five games, and head coach Manolo Marquez takes today’s defeat as a learning session for him and for his team. According to him, Mumbai are the favourites to top the table at the end of the season and this result provides a lot of takeaways for a young team like hyderabad.
“This is a good lesson for us. I think that there are a lot of positive things from the last five games. When you win, or when you draw or when you lose, you have to prepare for us now, in the next training session to learn from the mistakes,” he said calmly.

Take Away from the game
Even though they suffered a loss, Hyderabad FC’s sturdy and disciplined performance was something which caught many eyes. Manolo Marquez believes the team played well in the second half, but failed to convert their chances. “For us, it was a mix. You can win, lose or draw, I think in the second half our team was brave. We played against a very good team but I am happy with this six games and the second half performance from today,” he said at the end of the game.
Fair Scoreline, says Manolo
Hyderabad FC gaffer believes that the scoreline after the game reflects the performances of both the teams on the pitch. Hyderabad FC, with all their defending solidarity, couldn’t hold back Mumbai’s forwards in the game against Hyderabad, who had also conceded twice in their last game as well.
Speaking on his take from the final score, Manolo believes that the scoreline is fair and it justifies the efforts put in by his players. “Today the quality of mumbai was very good’ very good high press especially in the first half. We couldn't play our typical football and our style. I think they deserve to win the game,” said Manolo. Having said this, the Spaniard believes that his team had their chances and their time as well in the game. “Just when they scored their second goal, I felt we were playing better. But Mumbai is a strong team and i think this is a fair result,” he ended.

On Liston Colaco’s starting position
Liston Colaco failed to make it into the starting lineup today as well and was brought in the game at around the 52nd minute mark, and his entry brought the much needed sharpness into the Hyderabad FC attack.
Liston, who provided two assists in the last game against SC East Bengal, had to be forcibly left on the bench at the start according to Manolo Marquez, following an injury which he suffered in the last game.
“Nobody knows how he finished the last game. Liston was injured in the last minute against SC East Bengal. He was not ready. After his fantastic performance the other day, for sure he would have played in the starting 11 if he was in good condition,” exclaimed the coach speaking in his situation. But, much to the delight of the fans, the coach assured that his condition is fine and he will be available for selection from the start in the next game. “He played today for maybe for forty minutes. He is lucky that he is not with physical problems and I think he will be ready for the next game,” concluded Manolo Marquez.
