Kerala Blasters sign Argentinian Facundo Pereyra on one-year deal
The 32-year-old has also made 29 appearances in the UEFA Europa League (including qualifiers).
Indian Super League (ISL) outfit Kerala Blasters have completed the signing of attacking-midfielder Facundo Pereyra, Khel Now can confirm. The Argentina international have signed with the club on a season-long deal, with an option to extend by another year.
"Kerala Blasters have signed Facundo Pereyra on a free transfer. He will sign a deal that lasts till the end of the upcoming 2020-21 season, with an option to extend by another year," a source close to the developments informed Khel Now.
Pereyra kick-started his senior footballing career with CA Estudiantes, a club that plays in the second division of the Argentine football league, in 2006. He remained with them until 2009 before joining CD Palestino. Since then, he has gone on to play for clubs like Audax Italiano (Chile), San Luis (Mexico), Gimnasia (Argentina), PAOK (Greece), Gabala (Azerbaijan), Racing Club (Argentina), Colon (Argentina) and Club Necaxa (Mexico).
He was most recently a part of the Cyprus First Division club Apollon Limassol, where he scored 14 goals and registered three assists in 53 appearances. The 32-year-old has also made 29 appearances in the UEFA Europa League (including qualifiers) and has recorded two goals and five assists in the competition to date.
Facundo Pereyra is best known for his performances with PAOK in the 2014-15 season, when he netted 11 times along with providing four assists. In 2018-19, has was also teammates with Andre Schembri, the Maltese forward who plied his trade with Chennaiyin FC last season, before hanging up his boots.

Although, he is primarily an attacking midfielder, Facundo Pereyra can also play as a second striker. At PAOK, he was mostly assigned the role of a winger and played it to perfection too. His signing is expected to hand a massive boost to Kerala Blasters, who will be looking to bolster their attack after finishing at a lowly seventh place in the ISL last season. They have already signed Naorem Mahesh Singh and are in talks with Gary Hooper, while Nongdamba Naorem and Rahul KP are also expected to be a part of their setup next season.
The club's new Sporting Director Karolis Skinkys and head coach Kibu Vicuna are in-charge of a massive squad overhaul at the Kochi-based outfit, in a bid to put an end to their poor run of form for the past three seasons.
