FC Goa finished second in the league and will be facing Bengaluru FC in the semifinal!

Manolo Marquez put up a double shift this season, managing the Indian national football team and FC Goa. While the Spaniard will be stepping down from his role with the Gaurs at the end of the season, the team seems motivated to give their coach a wonderful farewell.

The 2024-25 Indian Super League season didn’t start too brightly for FC Goa as they managed to pick up just one win in 6 ISL games. However, post this, the former ISL Shield winners went on a dominant 18 game run in which they won a whopping 13 matches.

FC Goa’s run in ISL 2024-25 in numbers

Owing to their turn of form, Manolo Marquez’s side finished the league stage with 48 points from 24 ISL games. While a resolute Bengaluru FC stand in their way of making it to another ISL Final, the Gaurs will surely be confident. Here is FC Goa’s journey in numbers so far in the 2024-25 ISL season…

27 – FC Goa have been resolute in defence, conceding just 27 goals in 24 ISL games, at an average of 1.1 goals conceded per game. Only Mohun Bagan has let in fewer goals in the league stage

13 – Armando Sadiku, Brison Fernandes, Iker Guarrotxena, Borja Herrera, Udanta Singh, Mohammad Yasir, Aakash Sangwan, Boris Singh, Ayush Chhetri, Carl McHugh, Dejan Drazic, Sandesh Jhingan, and Sahil Tavora scored for Goa in the league stage.

31 – Out of FC Goa’s 43 goals in the league stage 31 were from open play. The remaining were from set pieces (6 goals), penalties (3 goals), and own goals (3 goals) from the opponent.

7 – Alongside Chennaiyin FC, FC Goa have been guilty of giving away seven penalties. Six of these were converted into goals by the opponent team.

12 – FC Goa went on an unbeaten run between October 2024 and February 2024 to turn their season around. During this time, they won eight of their twelve ISL games and drew the remaining four.

4.9 – Manolo Marquez’s side have averaged 4.9 shots on target per match in this ISL season, giving a solid test to the opponent’s goalkeeper. In terms of testing the opponents goalkeeper, the Gaurs are second only to Mohun Bagan.

18 – Sandesh Jhingan, the veteran Indian defender returned from an ACL injury on 2nd November 2024 against Bengaluru FC. Since his return FC Goa played 18 ISL games, winning 13 games, losing 2 matches, and settling for a draw on 3 occasions.

7 – Voted the Player of the Month for January, Brison Fernandes has taken the ISL by storm this season, scoring 7 goals and providing 2 assists in 22 league games. Brison is the second highest Indian scorer this season behind Sunil Chhetri.

23 – FC Goa scored in 23 of their 24 ISL league games this season. They only failed to scorer in the 2-0 loss to Mohun Bagan at the VYBK Stadium
