Mohun Bagan have already added Apuia to their squad.
Mohun Bagan Super Giant have bolstered their defensive line-up with the signing of experienced Australian central defender Tom Aldred. The arrival of Aldred adds a strong presence to the backline as the Mariners gear up for the upcoming Indian Super League (ISL) and the Asian Champions League.
Aldred, a 32-year-old center-back, arrives in Kolkata with a wealth of experience under his belt. He has been a mainstay in Australia’s A-League, having played for clubs Brisbane Roar. Known for his strong physical presence, aerial dominance, and leadership qualities, Aldred is expected to shore up Mohun Bagan’s defense.
Head Coach Jose Molina expressed his satisfaction with the signing, highlighting Aldred’s experience and defensive prowess. “Tom Aldred is an experienced player who will strengthen our defense,” Jose Molina said. “He has a great physique, is forceful, and very aggressive defensively. Tom is a dominator in aerial balls and also has good technique to contribute to the build-up play.”
Tom Aldred himself is excited to embark on this new chapter in his career. “I am delighted to be joining Mohun Bagan Super Giant FC,” he stated. “It will be an honor to wear the green and maroon jersey and I am extremely excited to get started.”
Having played in England, Scotland, and Australia, Aldred brings a wealth of experience to the Mariners. He is eager to contribute to the team’s success across all competitions. “I am looking forward to this next step of my journey in representing this incredible club in the ISL and the Asian Champions League and helping the team thrive and compete on all fronts,” he declared.
Acknowledging the club’s rich history, Aldred expressed his commitment to the cause. “I am well aware of the incredible history of Mohun Bagan and I’ve watched some of the recent successes from afar,” he said. “I will give my absolute best every single day to represent Mohun Bagan. I am looking forward to working hard and contributing to further success for the club, the fans, and my teammates.”
The fans at Kolkata can expect to see Tom Aldred in action soon, as he expressed his eagerness to join the team. “I can’t wait to get over to India and Kolkata and meet everyone. See you all very soon,” he concluded.
Aldred’s addition to the squad strengthens Mohun Bagan’s defensive options. With his experience and skill set, he is expected to play a crucial role in the team’s endeavors for the upcoming season.
Whether Aldred can become the defensive rock Mohun Bagan craves remains to be seen, but his arrival undoubtedly adds another layer of intrigue to the upcoming ISL season.
