The shot-stopper has been one of the most consistent players in the league over the years.

Mumbai City FC skipper Amrinder Singh is set to sign a mega five-year contract to join Indian Super League (ISL) outfit ATK Mohun Bagan, Khel Now understands. Once signed, the ₹10+ crore deal over the span of five years will be one of the biggest in terms of total package for an Indian footballer.

The 27-year-old has been extremely vital to Mumbai’s impressive performances this season. He has kept seven clean-sheets and conceded only four goals in 11 appearances so far. Singh has made numerous important saves at critical junctures and is also the most-capped player in the Islanders’ history.

The deal is likely to take place ahead of the eighth season of the ISL. Undoubtedly, it will be a major for Mumbai, as the custodian has led the backline with aplomb so far.

Amrinder Singh has made 26 saves, with a success rate of 86.66% until now and is leading the race to claim the Golden Glove at the end of the campaign. Moreover, the goalkeeper’s ability to play out from the back has improved massively under Sergio Lobera’s tutelage. He has maintained a passing accuracy of 74.31% and certainly added a new dimension to his playing style.

It must be recalled that former ATK Mohun Bagan custodian Dheeraj Singh Moirangthem has already joined FC Goa, a move that was exclusively revealed by Khel Now a few days prior to the announcement.

At the time of writing, ATK Mohun Bagan are trailing Mumbai by five points in the standings, but are still quite likely to lure the table-toppers’ prized asset.

Lest we forget, the Kolkata-based club had similarly signed Mumbai’s former key star Subhasish Bose on a five-year deal in 2020. The Antonio Lopez Habas led team possesses numerous other renowned Indian internationals like Sandesh Jhingan, Pritam Kotal, Manvir Singh, Pronay Halder and so on.

The Islanders’ captain had represented ATK in 2015 and also plied his trade at Bengaluru FC. His outstanding performances this campaign certainly grabbed the attention of the Kolkata giants.

Khel Now can also reveal that Sergio Lobera's former charge Mohammad Nawaz, will replace the outgoing Amrinder Singh at Mumbai City.
