The 32-year-old scored four goals last season.

Australian forward Joel Chianese will extend his stay at Hyderabad FC after signing a one-year extension with the club ahead of the new season. The 32-year-old missed just four games last season and was a vital cog in Hyderabad FC lifting the ISL trophy.

"Joel Chianese has penned on a one-year contract extension with Hyderabad FC," a source aware of the developments informed Khel Now. The winger therefore will be part of the squad for the ISL 2022-23 season. It will be his third straight season in India and at HFC.

Chianese, who joined the Nizams in 2020 on a free transfer from Perth Glory, has so far represented Hyderabad FC in 31 ISL matches. He has scored seven goals and assisted on four occasions, with a major chunk of those coming last season when he started as a strike partner of Bartholomew Ogbeche.

He enjoyed a fruitful campaign last season scoring, assisting and also creating plenty of chances. Chianese created the second-highest goalscoring chances for Hyderabad after Ogbeche. Earlier Khel Now broke the news that ISL 2021-22 Golden Boot winner Bart Ogbeche has also extended his contract with the Nizams. Now Chianese has joined his strike partner in extending his stay at the club.

Hyderabad FC's preparation for ISL 2022-23

While Ogbeche and Chianese have extended, the club will lose Asish Rai, who is set to join ATK Mohun Bagan. The club have already signed Kerala right-back Suyal Joshy, who lifted the Santosh Trophy earlier this month. Having finished second last term and winning the ISL trophy, Hyderabad FC will want to replicate the season and qualify for Asia.

They have also extended the contract of head coach Manolo Marquez, who in his two seasons at Hyderabad FC, have made Hyderabad FC one of the most entertaining teams to watch.
