The hosts secured a penalty shootout victory.
FK Baumit Jablonec took on Rangers FC in the second leg of their UEFA Conference League 2026-27 qualifying playoff at Stadion Střelnice on Thursday, August 27, 2026. A second-half goal from Vakhtang Tchanturishvili equalised the tie 1-1 on aggregate, and the hosts won the match 4-3 on penalties.
After a cagey hour of football with little in terms of clear-cut chances, Vakhtang Tchanturishvili opened the scoring in the 73rd minute to level the aggregate score. This strike sent the match into extra time.
The following 30 minutes brought no goals, which meant that the match went to penalties. Jan Hanus was the hero for the hosts, denying James Penrice to secure a narrow penalty shootout victory for the Czech side.

Important things we learned from Jablonec vs Rangers:
Catch Every Update, Anytime, Anywhere
1. Jablonec fail to take early chances
The home side started the match on the front foot, completely dominating the attack for the opening five minutes. Lamin Jawo had two decent chances in the eighth and 13th minutes, but the Nigerian failed to keep his strikes on target. Jawo’s shot just before the half-hour mark was comfortably saved by Ivor Pandur. The game could have looked very different had Jawo capitalised on one of those early opportunities.
2. Little joy for Yokota
Daisuke Yokota, who joined Rangers from Hannover 96 in the summer for £2.75 million, had a wonderful outing in the first leg. The Japanese winger set up the only goal to give his side the advantage in the tie. However, he had no such luck in the second leg. He had just 19 touches overall, completing just one cross in the match. He was withdrawn at half-time.
3. Wayward finishing hurts the hosts
The hosts played their hearts out in search of a vital goal, but the Czech side were badly let down by their strikers. Rangers held firm courtesy of solid performances from centre-backs Emmanuel Fernandez and Olwethu Makhanya. However, Jablonec had several chances to go ahead in the match. By the time Tchanturishvili scored, his side should have been one or two goals up already.
4. Second half dominance from the hosts
Jablonec had been by far the better side throughout the match, and Tchanturishvili’s goal gave them wind in their sails. The Czech side pushed hard for the winner in normal time, giving Pandur and the Rangers defenders no respite. However, the visitors somehow held on to force extra time in the tie.
5. Penalties decide the match
After such a toothless performance from both sides, it seemed fair that the tie was decided by a penalty shootout. After five sensational penalty strikes, Pandur denied Filip Zorvan to give Rangers an advantage. However, Findlay Curties missed the next kick, and Jan Hanus denied James Penrice’s effort as the hosts secured a shootout victory and booked their place in the Conference League league phase.
