Julian Ryerson was brought off with an injury in the second half of tonight’s match.
Norway took on England in a feisty FIFA World Cup 2026 quarter-final clash at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida, on July 11. The Vikings took the lead through Andreas Schjelderup’s wonder-strike, but Jude Bellingham equalised just before half-time.
The Vikings suffered a massive setback in the second half when influential right-back Julian Ryerson had to be brought off due to an injury. The Borussia Dortmund player made his second start of the knockout stages in the quarter-final clash, but lasted just one hour.
Moments after Torbjorn Heggem’s goal was disallowed by the VAR, Ryerson went down in significant pain. It was not clear exactly what the injury was, but the right-back was clearly unable to continue and was replaced by Benfica’s Fredrik Aursnes by head coach Stale Solbakken.

Julian Ryerson’s injury-hampered World Cup
Ryerson has suffered multiple injuries in the ongoing expanded 48-team World Cup in North America. The full-back was brought off after just 13 minutes during the group-stage game against Senegal, having suffered a thigh injury.
He missed the next two matches against France and Ivory Coast. However, he returned to the starting lineup in the Round of 16 clash against Brazil, playing 63 minutes.
He seems to have aggravated his past injury in tonight’s game, and it remains to be seen whether he plays any part in the Vikings’ upcoming clashes should they survive in the World Cup.
