There are some unreal numbers corresponding to some surprising players.

With inflation well and truly taking the football market as one of its victims, players all around the world are being sold for sums of money that would not have been conceivable just a few years ago. The CIES football observatory has developed an algorithm that estimates the market value of a player in the current market.

We at Khel Now take you through the list of the top 10 most valuable players according to this algorithm.

10. Leroy Sane: €137.1m

The 23-year-old German may have had a poor season by his high standards after falling out with Pep Guardiola, but that has not affected his market value. Sane scored 10 goals and made 10 assists in the Premier League this season and is reportedly a target for Bayern Munich who are looking to bring him back to the Bundesliga. It remains to be seen if his market value will prove a stumbling block in negotiations.

9. Antoine Griezmann: €143.8m

Griezmann announced his departure from Atletico Madrid early in the summer but is yet to announce his newest club. At a valuation of around €144m, there are very few clubs around the world that can afford him. The Frenchman has been strongly linked to FC Barcelona and also to Manchester United this summer.

8. Roberto Firmino: €144.2m

The Champions League winning Brazilian is one of three Liverpool players on this list. Firmino scored 16 goals for his side this season. However, his price tag may prove too steep for any potential buyers, especially considering the player’s recent European triumph.

7. Harry Kane: €155.2m

Harry Kane is undoubtedly one of the world’s elite strikers, with a ruthless eye for goal and the technique to match. The Tottenham Hotspur man was reportedly a target for Real Madrid as they looked for a long term replacement to Karim Benzema but for the time being, Kane looks to be staying put at Spurs, who will be more than happy to have retained his services.

Lionel Messi is only the fourth player in this list

6. Sadio Mane: €157.8m

The Senegalese forward finished the 2018-2019 season as the top scorer in the Premier League as well as playing a crucial part in his side’s Champions League triumph. Mane was brought to Liverpool from Southampton and has more than shown his class in red. His transfer price will most likely prove too steep to attract any buyers if Liverpool are willing to sell.

5. Jadon Sancho: €159.4m

At 19 years of age, Sancho is truly a testament to Dortmund’s excellent scouting system. The Englishman was brought to Germany from Manchester City and has taken the Bundesliga by storm. The youngster was reportedly a target for Manchester United but looks to be staying put at Dortmund for the time being.

4. Lionel Messi: €167.4m

Several have tried and several have failed to prise Leo Messi away from Barcelona over the years. The little Argentine is arguably the best player on the planet. His age of 32 years is the only reason why he is not higher up this list. However, that has not stopped him from performing for his club yet again, with 51 goals this season.

3. Raheem Sterling: €207.8m

The Englishman was heavily criticized when he moved from Liverpool to Man City, but the moved proved to be a stroke of genius for Sterling’s career as he ended the 2018-2019 season as the Players' Player of the year in the premier league. With a price tag of over 200m euros, it is easy to see why the player will be staying at Manchester City for the next season.

2. Mohammed Salah: €219.6m

The last of the Liverpool players on this list was also the joint top-scorer for the 2018-2019 Premier League season. Salah has been a hero to the Liverpool faithful ever since his transfer from AS Roma but could be on his way out this summer. However, there are very few clubs around the world that would be able to afford the fee that the Egyptian would command.

1. Kylian Mbappe: €252m

At a staggering 252m euros, the 20-year old Mbappe tops this list and it is easy to see why. The Frenchman has reached 100 career goals quicker than both Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, is a World Cup winner, a French League winner and many more. Mbappe is without doubt, the heir apparent to Ronaldo and Messi’s throne and is sure to command the greatest of fees, should he leave PSG.
