The highest paid players from Europe's top five leagues

PSG's Kylian is the ninth highest salaried player in Europe.

Well, here is some news for all the football fans out there! Lionel Messi is the highest paid footballer in Europe, ahead of the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Antoine Griezmann, and Neymar.

French publication L'Equipe revealed the numbers in its annual report regarding the highest salaries in world football. The news doesn't come as a surprise, as Messi is still the main talisman for a star-studded Barcelona side, and also has a few more years left in him.

Alexis Sanchez - £1.93m per month (Manchester United, Premier League)

It doesn't come as a surprise to see that Alexis Sanchez is the highest paid player from the Premier League. 

Currently experiencing a downfall, the Chilean is no the player he was for Arsenal, Barcelona and Udinese. Sanchez has become a shadow of his past. But when United bought him for a free transfer, a lot was expected from the South American, but until now he has failed.

Neymar - £2.68m per month (PSG, Ligue 1)

PSG's prized possession, Neymar, is one of the most talented players in the world right now. Already 27-years-old, the Brazilian attacker hasn't won a Ballon d'Or yet, but could in the future if he raise his game a notch higher. 

In a team consisting of the likes of Edinson Cavani, Kylian Mbappe, the former Barcelona man has made a name for himself in Ligue 1 with some fascinating goals and assists. Although, the cash-strapped club bought him for the Champions League, the Brazilian still needs time to prove his mettle.

Robert Lewandowski - £1.3m per month (Bayern Munich, Bundesliga)

Polish forward Lewandowski is still in high demand although he is already 30-years-old. On his day, he can rip apart any defence and score goals.

Still in Bayern, he currently leads their frontline as a sole striker and has scored 12 goals in this season. The former Dortmund player still has a few years left in him, and will easily win more trophies.

Cristiano Ronaldo - £4.12m per month (Juventus, Serie A)

Two-three seasons back, Ronaldo's salary would have been much more than this amount, but the Portuguese is 34-years-old and is still one of the best poachers in the world. 

Currently leading the golden boot race in Serie A, the 2016 Euro winner could well finish in the same position towards the end of this season. Leading Juventus' attack with Dybala and Mandzukic, the former Manchester United still has a year or two left in him.

Lionel Messi - £7.27m per month (Barcelona, LaLiga)

This was pretty obvious that the Argentine genius would lead the pack, considering the change in scenario for Cristiano Ronaldo.

Currently, the skipper and talisman for Barcelona, Messi will be eyeing for a treble this season, which could further increase his stock in front of the Barca board. Barcelona are currently still present in all competitions this season, with Messi being the star performer.
