The hosts went down to a solitary goal from Anirudh Thapa in the first half.
India registered a narrow 0-1 win over the hosts, Thailand in the third-place playoff in the King's Cup, to secure their first win in the Igor Stimac era.
Adil Khan and Anirudh Thapa combined to give India a 17th-minute lead which was enough for the Blue Tigers to end their campaign on a high. Stimac made eight changes to the lineup that started in the first match against Curacao and most of them did turn out to be positives.

Thailand marauded India's backline and upped the ante on several occasions in search of a goal, but the finishing touch was missing in their attacks. India's defence looked better than in the first game, though there is a lot of work that still needs to be done.

However, considering the time span of all the events, Stimac should be happy with how things turned out at the King's Cup and now the focus will shift back home, where the Blue Tigers will play against Korea DPR, Syria and Tajikistan at the Intercontinental Cup, starting from July.
After the 1-4 drubbing in the AFC Asian Cup, the Blue Tigers have followed it up nicely with a 0-1 win against Thailand. This time in their own den and with several newcomers in the squad. This win will definitely boost the confidence of the younger lads, new to the setup to strive for more in the future and will also help Stimac and the support staff to analyze and assess the condition of all the players. After all, the Croatian has already declared that he is preparing the team for the upcoming World Cup Qualifiers.
