Leeds United vs FC Augsburg Preview – prediction, team news, lineups | Pre-Season Friendly

Daniel Farke’s Leeds eye win in final pre-season game against German outfit Augsburg in West Yorkshire

Elland Road in West Yorkshire, England, gears up to host the pre-season friendly fixtures where English outfit Leeds United and German side FC Augsburg face each other in what is set to be a thrilling contest.

The Whites not only avoided relegation after being newly promoted last season, but also finished a spot above UEFA Conference League winners Crystal Palace. They are coming off a 5-4 penalty defeat to Manchester United in the last friendly.

They had a pretty impressive pre-season with wins over Sunderland, Liverpool and Leipzig. Former Dortmund reserves gaffer Daniel Farke is set to continue as the head coach for the upcoming season. They have roped in James Trafford recently from Manchester City.

Augsburg finished mid-table in the Bundesliga last season. They are led by German gaffer Manuel Baum, who took over the reins in December 2025 and had a pretty impressive campaign. They ran riot in the last game, winning 15-0 against Schwaz last season.

They roped in Tom Wisbereit from Union Berlin, Hennes Behrens from Hoffenheim and Sima Suso from Dusseldorf. This will be their final pre-season game before they lock horns with Cottbus in the DFB Pokal fixture next.

  • Stadium: Elland Road Stadium
  • Kick-off time: 6:30 pm IST
  • Date: Saturday, 15 August

Players to Watch

James Trafford (Leeds United)

James Trafford made a high-profile move from Manchester City to Leeds United. After playing as a second-choice keeper at the Etihad, he is expected to be a regular starter at Leeds United under Daniel Farke.

A highly proactive, athletic, and modern ball-playing goalkeeper, he was part of the City side that won the FA Cup and Carabao Cup last season, making 6 appearances each in both competitions. The former Burnley keeper will be a key player to watch out for Leeds next season.

Robin Fellhauer (Augsburg)

The Mannheim-born right-back was one of the best players for Augsburg last season, making 6 goal contributions in 36 games. A product of Freiburg’s youth setup, Robin has started almost every game for Augsburg last season.

A former German youth international, Fellhauer hails from a sporting family. He will be a key player to watch out for, as he excels at breaking up opposition counter-attacks and intercepting central passing lanes.
