Leeds vs Newcastle Preview – prediction, team news, lineups | Premier League 2026-27

Two unbeaten sides lock horns in West Yorkshire!

Standing on the same West Yorkshire turf since Leeds’ founding in 1904, the Elland Road Stadium in West Yorkshire, United Kingdom, gears up to host Matchweek 4 of the Premier League. Home team Leeds United and former Carabao Cup winners Newcastle United lock horns in what is set to be a thrilling clash.

The home team are unbeaten in the English top flight after one win and two draws. After a winning start over Nottingham, Leeds played back-to-back 1-1 draws against Brentford and Brighton. In the last game, Leeds took an early lead after Bogle broke the deadlock, and a late goal from Vuskovic saw them settle for a point.

Leeds just lost one of their last 12 games in the English Premier League. A defeat to Chelsea in the last game saw them bowing out of the Carabao Cup after conceding six goals but scoring three in a nine-goal thriller. Daniel Farke’s side would be keen to take all three points and get the better of Newcastle at home.

The Magpies also had similar form coming into this fixture. After kickstarting the season with a draw against Liverpool, they went on to defeat Spurs 2-0 away from home before playing another 2-2 draw against Bournemouth in the last game where Barnes and Ramsey found the back of the net.

They are coming off a narrow 1-0 win over Millwall in the last game of the Carabao Cup. Despite some of their big players heading out of St. James Park, former Al Ahli gaffer Matthias Jaissle did a pretty impressive job and will be keen to extend their unbeaten streak next in West Yorkshire.

Players to Watch

Tarik Muharemovic (Leeds United)

The Bosnian defender honed his skills at Juventus’ youth academy before representing Sassuolo in the Italian top flight. He played almost every single minute for Bosnia in their FIFA World Cup 2026 and was a reliable presence in the backline.

Following a brilliant campaign in the World Cup, he made a marquee move to Leeds United. He even scored against Chelsea in the last Carabao Cup fixture and has been solid at the back, keeping two clean sheets against Nottingham in the Carabao Cup and the English Premier League.

Anthony Elanga (Newcastle United)

The Swedish striker from Malmo has plied his trade with Manchester United and Nottingham Forest before finding his new home at St. James Park. He has been their top goalscorer so far, scoring two goals across three games against Spurs and Liverpool.

Elanga is in red-hot form and will face Gudmundsson on the wing. An established attacking weapon for the Sweden national team, he is one of the fastest sprinters in the English top flight, and his blistering transition pace is lethal.
