Football fans will have to wait a bit longer to see their beloved clubs return to play as the 2026-27 campaign takes a 16-day international break from September 21 to October 6.

The longer break is part of a new FIFA international schedule that combines the customary September and October windows into a single 16-day stretch. It will allow national teams to play up to four games rather than the normal two.

Matches to watch out for in the September-October 2026 international break

10. Portugal vs Wales: Thursday, September 24
