The Tuskers take on the Marina Machans in a heated derby clash.

Mikael Stahre’s Kerala Blasters are set to battle Chennaiyin FC in the home fixture of the derby clash in the Indian Super League (ISL) 2024-25.

Having suffered three consecutive defeats in the league, the Tuskers are looking to bounce back with a sweet home victory against their arch-rivals to regain momentum and give their fans something to cheer about.

The Blaster’s head coach Mikael Stahre, reflecting on his team’s chances in the derby, said, “I think every game in this league is competitive. We know that they are a strong team, well coached and they have quite a demanding style. But now we have to focus on our own game and perform better. That’s the thing we have to focus on,” said the gaffer.

The Swedish tactician, when asked about bolstering his squad with new acquisitions in the winter transfer window, commented, “Right now, my job is to focus on my squad, the next training session, the upcoming game, and the game plan. There is always discussion about how to improve the team during the transfer window. These are natural and normal discussions. but I can’t comment on that.”

Injuries have been a major issue for Mikael Stahre’s side throughout the season and suspensions have also impacted the game plans. Adrian Luna and Noah Sadaoui have been sidelined due to injuries whereas Peprah was not able due to suspension.

Mikael Stahre gave injury updates

Kerala Blaster’s young goalkeeper Sachin Suresh has been sidelined with an injury for quite some time now. When asked about his availability for the derby clash, Stahre responded with a brief but intriguing answer; “7:30 tomorrow.”

Mikael Stahre, updated on his side’s injury concerns, saying, “I believe our injury situation is now way better than before. However, like I used to say, 10% of the squad used to be not available for the game. We had some small injuries and that’s normal. I’m positive that we will address a good team and also a great bench tomorrow.”
