The Mariners are now looking for a replacement as soon as possible. Sanjoy Sen preferably wants an Indian defensive midfielder to fill the void left by the Australian who can be a difficult thing to get a hold off right now.

But, if they cannot get an Indian midfielder as a replacement, it is understood that the Mariners will look into signing someone else during the January transfer window. The release of Ferreira could be a big blow to the Kolkata giants and with Yuta Kinowaki likely to be out for a long time, they have a real shortage of midfielders in their team right now as they look to put on a proper title challenge in the I-League.
